British Comedy Guide

2nd Best sketch in the world.

We've all got an idea about what we consider to be the best comedy sketch in the world. But what's the second best, the one that's almost as good, but some how isn't.

The one that isn't, but is almost the Parrot Sketch etc.

A few of my 2nds,

Prequel to Rebecca, Mitchell and Webb.
Darth Vader calling the Emperor, Robot Chicken.

Despite the weak ending Four Candles takes some beating

Well if you're suggesting that Parrot is absolutely the tiptop of sketches then I'd have to go with 'Cheese Shop', specifically the version from the 'Matching Tie..' album.

Laughing out loud That is a great sketch!
I love the Gerald the Gorilla Sketch

I know it's not a sketch, but I just want to mention the Big Brother scene, in the Xmas edition of Extras, and in particular, the bit where the black woman, whose son was meant to have been stabbed/shot, saying she had a single coming out. F**king hell, that was genius. If I'd come up with that idea, I'd have rewarded myself, by taking a week off from writing.

Wow you're all so right.

The Gerald Gorilla sketch is ace, as is every thing from NT90N with Rowan Atkinson being quietly angry.

Especially the racist policeman one.

The Xtras Xmas special Big Brother had me squirming enough to crack my spine.

Yeah, you're right about 'Not..' Sooty. Some brilliant stuff in there, some you've mentioned. My favourite was the Two Ronnies pastiche. One of the funniest comic songs I ever did bear witness to.

I have to mention this as my FAVORITE internet sketch. That being it was produced for the internet. The Love Corner It's by a comedy Troop called Zebro.
p.s Speaking of the racist policeman sketch is gold. Ever see the racist police horses sketch?

Oh, and from Big Train, the sketch featuring the office where wanking is banned. Think that might have been a Chris Morris sketch.

:D They should've ended it with the 2nd meeting ;) or him throwing the couple of the roof imo.

I'm not a huuuuge fan of sketch comedy, so wouldn't like to say definitively, but I've always felt that whilst excellent, there's just something missing in Eric & Ernie's Singin' in the Rain.

Although to be fair, that's not really a sketch anyway.

I like the gorilla sketch much more than the dead parrot sketch.
But that's not remotely what this thread is about...

I think One-legged Tarzan is a contender for my second favourite.

If we're talking Big Train, this made me quite literally burst my sides laughing. Terrible mess, spleen and ribs everywhere. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCwMi_FYq2I

That's a good one. Pete & Dud were always good too, especially when Dud starts laughing.
