Best Last of the Summer Wine Page 2

It's not hurting anyone and it's good that older people have a sitcom they can relate to.

Being old does not make you undiscriminating. The octogenarians of my acquaintance agree that the show is clapped out shell of what it once was.

I wouldn't mind seeing BBC3 given over to the 68 - 124 year old demographic

I think I might watch that. Though to be honest ITV3 near enough fits the bill already.

Wasn't saying that. What I was saying is that it still has a fairly loyal audience. The main thrust of my point was that something fresh targetted at the more mature market is overdue. For example, this bloody Ronnie Corbett 'Home' thing which seems to have been waiting for ever to get going.

Everything about Last of The Summer Wine is shit.
The best bit is the last name on the credits.

Unfair Charley the funerals are fantastic.

Almost as much fun as seeing Macaukey Kalkin killed by bees.

Peter Sallis is still pegging on though...

I like that episode where they go down a hill in a bath tub. :)

Doesn't someone end up going down a hill in something each episode? I'm convinced there are only about 5 episodes that are altered just a little bit each time

But he can't die! What would happen to Wallace?! :(

I fell into an extended watch during the recent run and as has been said, it's not a bad watch really. I just think it's amazing that Roy Clarke could be bothered to write it for so long. Maybe the need to rope in other semi-retired actors and actresses kept his interest going.

The cast list is massive these days but that's probably coz they can only act for 2 minutes before needing a sit down and have a cup of tea.

The last episode had some pretty famous names in actually:

Peter Sallis... Clegg
Frank Thornton... Truly
Brian Murphy... Alvin
Kathy Staff... Nora
Barbara Young... Florrie
Tommy Cannon... Cliff
Bobby Ball... Lenny
Burt Kwouk... Entwistle
Jane Freeman... Ivy
Juliette Kaplan... Pearl
June Whitfield... Nelly
Sarah Thomas... Glenda
Mike Grady... Barry
Robert Fyfe... Howard
Josephine Tewson... Miss Davenport
Jean Fergusson... Marina
Jean Alexander... Auntie
Tom Owen... Tom

Funny that The guy playing Barry is now 62 when he was playing a comparative kid when he started. Clegg is 87 by the way - Cripes!

Barry's 62?!!! Christ! How old's the woman who plays his wife?

C'mon it's waht £10,000 an episode for basically what's 5 minutes work editing last weeks episode. I bet he does his minor rewrites beforing burying his face in a pile of coke and calling the escort agency. Laughing maniacally at the stupid licence payer all the time.

I'm pretty sure it's more that £10,000 an episode. Considerably more. Roy Clarke gets paid a lot of money, or so I read.

Glenda is 56 it seems

Christ! I remember when she was 36!

The thing that amused me about Barry and Glenda is that they still seem to be portrayed as wanting to be the dynamic up-and-coming businessman and he's virtually at retirement age.

Looking forward to the carriage clock episode.

My favourite episode was the one where Clegg was beaten to f**king death by Nora Batty.
