Not true Morrace - it's very rare I say mean things about sketches in Critique. Usually I just don't comment at all if I really don't like them. (I also don't comment on sketches I haven't read, so "no comment" doesn't automatically mean "dislike"). Even when sketches don't work for me I try to point out the good, and to point out the "bad" as neutrally as possible.

I have plenty of scraps with people on other sections of the forum, but not usually over their work.

But I do feel it's useful to point out if a joke has been used before, eg when someone posted a sketch a while back with a wreath of flowers spelling out a swearword, I felt it was worth noting this had also been done on The League Of Gentlemen. Not to accuse people of gag theft but because if I'd come up with a joke I'd want to be told if it had been done before.

Finck's joke is different from the Viz strip anyway, as hers is a pointed topical reference (and a quickie) whereas "Playtime Fontayne" is an ongoing character piece.

BTW I don't really understand Finck's reference to replacing high profile jobs with women - is that a news story I missed?

PS Seefacts almost never posts anything in Critique (and nor do I). On the one time he did, I PM-ed him some feedback rather than posting it publicly.

I stand corrected, Griff. Sorry.

Nice of you to explain so thoroughly. That sounds sarcastic - I assure you it's not!

Re. Finck's reference to 'replacing high profile jobs with women'; I think that was (with respect to Finck) a fantasy. After all, the phrase suggested that ALL the high profile jobs had been taken by women.

Note to Finck:

Sorry about the hijack! Very funny sketch, especially as English is not your first language - and you're a woman.

It is indeed baffling to me, speaking as a scientist, how that fairly minor difference between having a twat and being a twat can end up causing such a great variance with regard to comedic talent. Funny boy.

Thanks, Griff, for the comic. I think it's been done on film somewhere, too.

The starting point for this actually was a real news story. It probably got a bit drowned in the big crash boom bang of our dear financial system. Anyway, Woman's Hour took the time to discuss it thoroughly and that's where the inspiration came from, though I wouldn't dare try to outperform that lot comedically.

So thanks everyone for the feedback, and a special bow to Morrace for... just to bow, actually.

Speaking as someone having a prick and being a prick; I was wondering - if you're a female scientist - when (or if) you have an orgasm - do you shout "Eureka!!"?

Genius line Fink, save it it'll be ace in a sketch, sitcom or fight to the death.

Probably did it the first time, like all the good ones do. Not Greek, though.

Is that a subtle request?

Is that a subtle request?

No. I don't do subtle. I'm more of a "Wham, Pow, thank you, Frau!"
