I loved Bread when I was little!
But I can imagine it would be shit if I rewatched it now.

Ditto I watched some bits on rerun and it was vile.

Nooooooooo! Not priests!

They were bad priests though.

Vile may be a slight overstatement there.

We could get Gavin to reenact some of the scenes with Jack...?
:)

There are few greats who haven't had the odd stinker in their time.

I believe Norman Wisdom made a stinker of a thriller 10 years ago.

But Wisdom obviously wasn't doing comedy. He has done some very good straight roles. And although I love him, it's a little embarrassing when he still tries to do his comedy nowadays.

Ha!

And although I love him, it's a little embarrassing when he still tries to do his comedy nowadays.

Erm, Norman Wisdom is currently in a care home with incurable senile dementia.

Astonishing that no-one nominated Butterflies, really.

Oh bugger. Can we add it on now? Surely it deserves a special mention, for being not just unfunny, but terribly depressing?

As for The Liver Birds, its second series was released on DVD a few years ago by Universal Playback. It's also received repeats recently on Paramount Comedy 2, so I expect further releases are on the cards.

If you were trying to be funny Nil, you failed miserably.

Etc.

I saw a documentary about him a while ago, yes he is, but he still has ago (not professionally). Wasn't he in Last of the Summer Wine a couple of years ago too?

From Wikipedia:

On 16 January 2008, BBC2 aired Wonderland: The Secret Life Of Norman Wisdom Aged 92 and 3/4,a documentary highlighting the dilemma of coping with an aging parent. In a spoken trailer on BBC Radio 5 Live for the programme and in later publicity interviews undertaken by his family, it was stated that Wisdom's memory loss is now so severe that he no longer recognises himself in his own films.

But I'm not having a go, Nil, was just pointing out in case you weren't aware.

There was another I remember from being wee. What the hell was that called? It had the song "it was boredom at first sight, he was hardly Mr Right" etc. And there was a bird from Liverpool and a guy with a big nose.

Shit...

Ooh that sounds familiar.

Ian, Google tells me your show was something called Watching.

Ooh that sounds familiar.

Damn I hate when this happens.
And she called his mum the hooded claw, that's about all I can remember.

Oh Watching. Everyone's always going on about that!

I need to see a clip.

Ok, he may be 'gone' now, but 'in general' during the, I don't know, the last 15 years, whenever I saw him doing his old gags I felt embarrassed for him. That was my point, if not well made. :)

Norman Wisdom IS a legend. :)

No worries Griff. ;)
