And one from Viz's Top Tips. This one goes out to you, Aaron:
FOREIGNERS. Improve your English swearword vocabulary by dawdling aimlessly with your friends in front of the entrance to Oxford Circus tube station at 5.30pm every afternoon. Advanced linguists might like to try zig-zagging down the steps at a snail's pace while texting everyone back home.

I bought a recent Viz. The letters page is the best part IMO. Example, Top Tips letter.
'Husbands. Cheer yourself up by watching your wedding video in reverse. You'll love the bit where you give her back the ring, walk back up the aisle, get into a car and f**k off.'
Quote: Griff @ September 20 2008, 1:21 AM BSTWhat can I do? I can't just ban suggestions because people might not have heard of them, whether Viz (which I love) or The Colbert Report (which I know nothing about). Maybe "Universally Loved" means "Universally Loved By Those Who Have Watched It". Otherwise should I ban Ian Wolf's suggestion of "And Then You Die" because I've never heard of it personally?
No - but that is at least broadcast in the UK. My point about The Colbert Report was that of course it's going to be on the loved list when nominated, because you'd have to like it in order to see it in the first place. And Then You Die is on Dave, IIRC, so could easily be stumbled upon in the TV guide, or by channel hopping.
Viz sold around the world, and was printed in the US as well as Australia. The cartoons were also broadcast around the world.

IME, that behaviour is most likely to improve only your knowledge of the NHS.

Disagree. It's equally possible for people to seek out US comedy shows because they've read good reviews, go to the bother of downloading them or watching them on YouTube, and then discover they were a load of shit.
Talking of crap, I forgot to nominate Trexx And Flipside.
The wedding Viz letter is why I wouldn't like it.
Like those men who think it's hilarious to write 'help me' on the bottom of their shoes at their wedding.
It was probably funny the first time someone did it.
I suspect that a lot of its readers also buy Nuts and Zoo and talk about 'her indoors' without irony, whilst watching football down the pub.
Not all of them, I'm sure. And I did like the first letter Bandage posted. But still.
I wish I'd nominated The Venture Brothers as loved.

Me too. That show is pure gold.

Its tongue in cheek.
Ooh that's mean, and sounded like it came from the Guardians' womens page on a Friday.
I'll have you know I read Viz, Bizarre, Deathray, SFX, Scifi Now and I used to read Loaded when it was funny (which was a period of 6 months in 1998 I believe).
I loath Nuts and Zoo. But then they're no less pernicious and vile than the Zelps Haust of Heat.
I do like "Love it,"
zooo I'm going to start sneaking witticisms from Viz into threads and everytime you at one I'm going to go HA THAT WAS FROM VIZ
I used to read White Dwarf before it became geeky, and Modern Jewish Socialist before it got silly and expensive.
Also Viz at it's prime with 20% female readership was one of the most widly read magazines by women.
