Universally Loved And Loathed Page 26

Shouting is poor netiquette, if you wish to make a swift judgement I've posted up examples already.

Would you prefer me to post some more?

The rules said "please nominate comedy (sketch, sitcom, film, stand-up...)". I guess I hoped that the "...", and the inclusion of "stand-up", indicated "any format you can think of really". But I can understand your confusion.

But anyway. My thread my rules. I'll scrap Viz if someone says they've read or watched it, and they don't like it.

I clearly didn't read that post very well. :)

I've read Viz, and I think it's great. And Aaron, I guarantee you'd love it.

The few times I've taken notice of it, I've been put off even opening by the vile artwork and questionable humour on the front cover. If that's of any help in clarifying its status.

I always imagine it as the sort of thing Benny Hill wanked over.

Shouting is poor netiquette

So is disregard for any rules of spelling, grammar, or reading other peoples' posts beforehand. And yet it's never stopped you, has it?

I've read Viz, very funny. I thought we were talking about a TV series (which I've only seen snippits of). I'm not against it by any means.

>_<

I've always imagined it as a grotty little magazine for scrawny, grotty little ginger men.

I atleast endured episodes of the loathsome "Curry and Chips" before nominating it.

Not to mention the terminally bad "Chelmsford 123", and the primordially terrible "Terry and June."

I was pleasantly surprised by "The Gaffer," sometimes it's worth trying things you find intimidating. You may surprise your self.

You're just making a mockery of the whole thread concept now!

What can I do? I can't just ban suggestions because people might not have heard of them, whether Viz (which I love) or The Colbert Report (which I know nothing about). Maybe "Universally Loved" means "Universally Loved By Those Who Have Watched It". Otherwise should I ban Ian Wolf's suggestion of "And Then You Die" because I've never heard of it personally?

I always imagine it as the sort of thing Benny Hill wanked over.

Well in this case zooo, you are so far off the mark it's unbelievable.

From the letters page of Viz:

What a load of rubbish these modern so-called comedy programmes are these days. They are usually full of swearing and filth and are just not funny. What ever happened to proper comedies, like the one set in that shop with the shit-stabber and the woman with the blue hair who was always always talking about her c**t?

Then that's fair enough. :)

Chelmsford 123 was f**king brilliant.

Most of them are on YouTube in their full glory, well worth seeking out.
