If it turned out that God does exist.. Page 4

Here's a shocking suggestion:

Define this "God".
What qualities does it have?
What can it do?
What can't it do?

It was a question, not a statement.

And I can't answer your questions. Neither can you, despite your apparent conviction that you've seen into the heart of the universe.

For someone advocating "simple logic", you do seem to be getting terribly confused; how can one work back from square one? Surely the only way is forward, when one is at the beginning.

And the beginning is what?
The start of this physical universe?
Or was there consciousness & energy before the physical universe?
If so, then the start was not the beginning of the physical universe.

Start at YOUR idea of what square one was/is and work your way backwards.

There's a good chap.

Laughing out loud

The suggestion was: Define "God".

You can indeed answer the questions. If you can ask them, you can answer them. Now whether or not you can be satisfied with the answers is something to find out.

Keep asking and answering until you are thoroughly satisfied with the answers and feel no need to ask them ever again.

You CAN do it...and you WILL do it, sooner or later.

And other than using your own mind and imagination, how do you ever expect to define "God" or realize what it is or isn't?

Define "God" based on YOUR grokking. Anyone else's definition is meaningless.

Too tired to do that right now? Does it hurt your wittle brains to think of such things?

Sooner or later you're going to think about this stuff until you figure it out. And until you figure it out, there will be no constant happiness or peace or satisfaction in your mortal life. You will continue to live by default like a cork bobbing on the waves of a mysterious sea. And that's cool, it happens to all of us.

You WILL define "God" sooner or later. You will feel stuck until you do so.

I was just kidding around, Errr talk about pompous. yeeesh.
This board is bumming me out today. Neo-Con talk and some walking skeleton trying to convert me. I should probably just go do my homework.

Well I truly hope so, but I doubt it.
The universe has been designed, somehow, I feel absolutely sure about that.

But 'by what' is the big mystery, and I don't see how I could ever answer that.
Can I ask, do you think that you can?

If the universe was designed, then something existed before it in order to design it.

Would it not follow that the designer of the universe was the same designer who designed you?

And how could you be any different, in essence, from that which designed you?

So you must have the same qualities as that which designed you. That which designed you could only have itself to make anything from it.

Who put the value of "big" in reference to the "mystery"? It is not big unless you insist it is.

Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they are yours to keep. No one and no army of trillions can take them from you.

God should have smushed you dead for lying. JK Rowling's book sales dwarf Jordan's.

Jordan's tits dwarf JK Rowling's though.

I don't know Rowling seems to be having a tough time keeping them inside.

I agree. Perhaps I should've said, I believe in God - but what he is, or what his intentions/motives are, I don't know.

And how could you be any different, in essence, from that which designed you?

So you must have the same qualities as that which designed you. That which designed you could only have itself to make anything from it.

Not really. That seems quite human-centric. Spiders don't behave in the same way as humans. Planets don't. But he made those too.

Well I could concopt an answer for myself right now that seemed to fit my sense of logic and my world view. But that wouldn't make it necessarily the right answer. We can guess and reason, but can't actually know.

Yeah, and mankind is SO much like motorbikes, toy trains, televisions...

Even by your standards Skib, this drug-fuelled pseudo-philosophical bollocks is exactly that; bollocks.

My three questions would be:
1. Do I have to take my shoes off before I enter heaven?
2. Is that a ladder in your tights?
3. Why did you make me ginger you c**t?

What if he didn't laugh?

I did my deal with the devil long ago!
