Absolutely! By far the best thing about having a cold! Or, as you say, taking steps to prevent one 
I know the US show Friends isn't the most popular show on this board but did anyone see the episode when Monica get's sick and tries to seduce Chandler by rubbing Vics Vapo Rub on her chest as she says something along the lines of "you know you want this" in a nasalized voice.
I thought it was a pretty funny scene.
I love that episode!
