I think something in the show died with him, he was such a talented performer.
You know Santas Little Helper is quite a funny character in his own right.

His name was Phil Hartman. If you don't recognize the name you probably would remember him as Bill McNeal on the very funny comedy News Radio and of course the years he spent on Saturday Night Live during some very funny times.
Never seen News Radio, and what little of SNL I've seen was absolutely dire. But yes, that was his name.
Many people will know him as the next door neighbour in the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Jingle All The Way. That's the one with the Turbo Man superhero action figure doll thing.

I just read that the twentieth season had been put on hold as the voice actors wanted another pay rise.. the dispute was soon resolved, and the voice actors' salary has been raised to around $400,000 per episode!!
