Going Under Song

To the tune of LAND DOWN UNDER by MEN AT WORK
(tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNT7uZf7lew )

Travelling to a foreign country
On a budget flight, seats were not comfy
We were there sitting down, about to take off
Suddenly the engines turned off
And they said:

"I'm afraid that we're going under
We made a financial blunder
How we did that you may well wonder
You better run, to see if you're covered

I was on my way to Brussels
Was gonna use the Channel Tunnel
They said, "There's-a been a slight glitch"
Then they smiled and gave me a free sandwich
And they said:

"There's been a small freight train fire
Could have turned into a pyre
Can't you see the flames getting higher?
You'll get a re-fund if you desire

Still stuck here in England today
With a sore head and not much to say
I still haven't had, that great holiday
Because the transport is in disarray
And they said:

Oh! This country is going under
Too many mistakes, too many blunders
There's no fuel, unless you plunder
You better run to make sure you're covered

You done well by combining flights debacle and channel tunnel fire Rob0.

What an excellent AND original parody to a very well known tune - well, to those who know it, of course. Brilliant stuff

Wow, that is SHIT HOT and cleverly close to the original lyrics.

That's the best you've posted in my very 'umble opinion.

LOVED the first verse where the engines are shut down.

You're ability to do these matches is a little disturbing, but thankfully gives me an excuse not to bother writing them my self.

This is very good, crosses 2 subjects, is funny and matches the lyrics exceptionally well.

And it's got some good gags.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Glad you liked the first verse Mikey, your stewardess sketch actually set the brain cogs in motion for that - Thank you!

Baumski - great song site. The "Two Little Boys" was already a moving song, used properly to make a point.

Thught till now "Any Deal Will Do" was the closest match, but this song is the quirkiest and luckiest - starting point was the "Going Under" - didn't know it had the Brussels line in at the time - was a real gift.

Oh no, I hope I haven't given Sootyj more time to focus on his sketches ;)

Well, ALL the song was excelent, but my fave was the 1st verse. :)

RobO, this is brilliant. And I can't get the bastard tune out of my head now.

Very well done RobO. You should submit it to a topical comedy show. I think there's one called News Revue, but no doubt other members can give you more information about it then I.

Well, about time you got paid back for leaving me with "Summer Holiday" reverberating :P

Thanks again, best response I've had to anything

Another great set of lyrics, Rob0!
