Audience laughter Page 2

Who remembers the scene in Annie Hall where Rob is in the TV studios in LA and is shamelessly adding canned laughter to his TV show. Much to the dismay of Alvy. Laughing out loud :D Laughing out loud :D Laughing out loud :D Wave

Yeah, I always think of that scene whenever people talk about canned laughter. :)

It's also highly likely (I wouild think) that if they have to shoot the same joke several timesw due to mishaps, the later audience laughs may be strained, so they might use the best laughter 'shot' with a later best video shot.

Yes, quite true.

A lot of British sitcoms shoot the same joke regardless.

I noticed in Harry and Paul the laughter seemed genuine enough. I think some shows still use the original track without any editing.

I like it though. I dunno why, I just like in some way to feel part of the audience I guess. And sometimes (surprise surprise) I miss a joke and the laughter tips me to rewind and see what it was.

Yep, agreed on the last point.

You know I have to admit, I really do like watching comedies in a theatre. I like the sound of a room full of people laughing makes the movie all the more enjoyable and funny.

That's what I mean, it kind of gives you a sense of that.

When you started talking about a theatre, I thought we had a person of culture in our midst. Alas, not. :(

I love the theatre a thousand times more than the cinema. It's stupidly f**king expensive though.

Me toooo. I hardly ever go though.
In my pretend fantasy life I go every week!

That's quite depressing.

Tell me about it!

Yay. :)

I get to go to the National Arts Centre a lot for cheap because I'm still a student. It's awesome. I pay 10$ for tickets worth over 50$.
The last show I saw was a WW2 interpretation of Macbeth. It was kick ass.
I'm going to really miss those cheap tickets when I graduate. :(
