Blue Jihad2 could also be the title of what's going on in "What are you watching on TV?" at the moment.

eh?
More like Blue Armageddon.

You really don't want to know.
Do you have a running order/programme?
Not for Treason they're always horribly late.
I know it's old news now coz it's on the previous page, but my comment on cast v writers was written with my tongue in my cheek.
And...
Bow to me?
Eh? Why?
I might've cracked NR, but I haven't cracked Treason yet, whereas many of you lot have.
I'm looking forward to the Treason running order.
I'm yet to get a sketch into that damn elusive show.
Quote: Griff @ September 13 2008, 3:20 PM BSTAlso, write some "naked gag" sketches, that'll up your chances!
Indeed. My one success with Treason had Jeremy Paxman naked from the waist down. It hadn't occurred to me to send it to them, but I was advised that they would jump at it, which they did.
Quote: Griff @ September 13 2008, 3:20 PM BSTthere are some people who genuinely believe that "performers shouldn't write" which drives me potty.
Yeah, that'll be the embittered writers who also say "what do publishers know anyway?"
the first rule of BSG is not to take a single thing Sooty ever says seriously otherwise you will go loony.
Now you tell me!
Too late. I should be sectioned.
Also, write some "naked gag" sketches, that'll up your chances!
Will the performers ACTUALLY do the sketch naked?
That would get a lot of shock laughs
Does anyone remember that 80's sketch show Who Dares Wins and that "tailor" sketch where Tony Robinson was starkers?
Quote: Griff @ September 13 2008, 3:46 PM BSTMark Brailsford gets naked every time. Sadly none of the lovely actresses ever do.
Damn. I was just about to book tickets.
Hmm... thinking, thinking, thinking...
To be fair to the current NR director, she has apologised about the no. of cast items in this week's show. Although a bit odd that she also says that they had loads of stuff from writers, whereas normally the cast steps in more when it's a sparse week for contributions - maybe they are a very feisty cast this time!
Mikey J - Treason Show seems to be very different from NR in what they use adn I can't say I've worked out the nuances, except for what Griff says about TS always trying to get in quite a few very short sketches entirely built around the punchline. I've had approaching 30 sketches and songs accepted by NR/TS and only 4 or 5 have been used in both, and 2 of them were months apart, i.e. the 2nd time I submitted them to the other show. I've even had 2 closing numbers in TS that weren't even given a second glance by NR!
Quote: Griff @ September 13 2008, 3:20 PM BSTHi Mikey, no worries, I know it was made tongue in cheek, I was just making the general point, not so much as a reply to you, but because there are some people who genuinely believe that "performers shouldn't write" which drives me potty.
Also it is Sooty who has crowned you King of NewsRevue and the first rule of BSG is not to take a single thing Sooty ever says seriously otherwise you will go loony.
Good luck with Treason. You will get there. Treason really love short sketches (which I am lousy at). Also, write some "naked gag" sketches, that'll up your chances!
Isn't there a phonebox you should be starting a fight in?
Of course cast should write and some cast members are very, very talented.
Not only that but they get to jam, work through ideas and play to their strengths.
Often the giant medley combos they do are the best bits. I don't think an external writer could have done the sound of Fritzzel.
The thing is a good week in NR has maybe 20-30 writers. That's 20-30 sharp minds, puting out 1 or 2 of their best works.
Frankly good weeks are often the ones where I have very little in.
A real Unami moment for me, is seeing a really clever sketch I never would have thought of.
You just came dangerously close to sounding like you wanted to rape Lord Tidybeard!
I thought you were referring disaparaging thoughts on the current run.
And the King of News Revue was more a reference to remarks on my previous hit rate.
There's a lot of Richard and Judy sketches in this NR run!
Richard and Judy write sketches now? The bastards.
The selfish pricks.
