"Let Them Eat Cake" for Region 1?

Hi,

My other half is seeking a DVD of French & Saunders' Let Them Eat Cake that will operate on a US DVD player.

Amazon et al only offer UK and AU versions.

Anybody know whether US discs were ever made, and, if so, how I might obtain one?

Thank you for any guidance.

Jeff

I'm afraid to tell you, 'Let Them Eat Cake' wasn't released in Region 1 and there are no plans to do so.. I'm thinking the only option is to download..
Welcome To BSG by the way!
:)

Thank you for the welcome!

From where would I download it?

Or to buy it and get a region 2/4 compatible DVD player. Which is the option I recommend, as it saves any future problems of the same nature.

And welcome indeed. :)

We can't name specific places due to its huge illegality, I'm afraid.

Or, buy the UK DVD and use AnyDVD to remove the region coding and play on your pc.

Or, buy the UK DVD and back it up, removing the region coding at the same time.

Well, the hardware issue is off the table for now.

I was considering buying the Region 2 DVD and then applying a great deal of software to the issue, i.e., slurp the stream off the disc into a file, reformat the file, burn a new DVD. Tedious, time-consuming, and complex, but I am in the computer business and that describes everything I do. >_<

Sounds good to me, and doesn't take that long. Whistling nnocently

Welcome btw. :)

Surely much quicker to DVD Decrypter-ise it, then reburn the VOBs (or ISO), rather than go through all the malarkey of reformatting and whatnot? Unless you mean you want to rip it to NTSC as well, of course.

I think I need to go to NTSC for the sake of the silly DVD player (and the television).

Is it really so easy as just rewriting the region code and the player will handle the rest?

If you recode to NTSC without region coding yes. Unless your TV accepts a PAL input.

I'd use AnyDVD and a ripping program to back it up. And a burnin program (Nero or whatever) to whack it on a DVD.

Simple.

Most players are clever these days and will do conversion.

Unfortunately, many TVs are also clever, and so then convert it again, thus making the colour go a bit peculiar.

My TV was wrought by the Ancients. I believe there are actually midgets on the inside who draw on the back of the glass....

Um.

No PAL input. So, I do have to reformat.

:D I edited my last post. It's a very simple process (as you'll know).

I was looking at VLC, VideoDub, and then some burner.

Does VLC remove region coding? I do have it, but have never used it in that way.

AnyDVD removes the region coding for your pcs DVDR (or whatever you have).

Your way sounds as though it could take some time. But if your happiest to do it that way then that's probably the way to go.

I thought the series was awful by the way. :)
