Dead dictators

GEORGE BUSH IS WAITING IMPATIENTLY ON STAGE THERE IS A CORPSE SLUMPED IN A CHAIR.

GEORGE

Mr Bankimoon, this North Korean Leader you've 'ad me negotiating with he's dead.

BANKIMOON

Well he is Kim ILL Jung, so he is going to look a bit peaky.

GEORGE

Peaky! Peaky! He's joined the politburo invisible, he has been deposed he is an ex dictator he's dead.

BANKIMOON

He's kipping.

GEORGE

Kipping is he? Hello pretty Polly, I've got a massive military parade for you, owz about some nice Weapons of Destruction?

Now that is a dead dictator.

BANKIMOON

Alright it's a fair cop, how about I give you a bad tempered Vietnam veteran Senator.

GEORGE

That's hardly a fiar exchange, oh go on then.

BAKIMOON DRAGS OUT A CLEARLY ALSO DEAD JOHN MACCAINE.

GEORGE

Now you're really taking the piss he's also dead.

BANKIMOON

Yes but 50% of Americans are still goin to vote for him

he heh , very good tribute to the Pythons. :)

This is very good. 1 thing: Kim Jong Il, not Kim Il Jong (tis confusing as his papa was Kim Il Sung). Otherwise, clever stuff as always, Joel. Laughing out loud 5 stars.

Thanks guys, Kims name corrected for submitted version.

Good one mate! Again!

It's a nice sketch, I like it. One thing, your George Bush character seems far too intelligent and quick witted, do you think that would be a problem when it comes to be performed? What's more important the character of Python coming through or a accurate satirical poke at George Bush? I'm not sure that this sketch will be able to achieve both.

I think the GWB is an idiot gag is so old, I think people might actually not care.

It's also such an odd sketch, I hope it'll have the energy on it's own to ride past such issues.

I'ts not that I think that GWB being an idiot is a gag, old or otherwise. I think that he is universally known as a man of low intellect and speed of thought. That's not a gag, thats fact.

Given that we both agree on that, do you think the 'performance' of this sketch might suffer when the audience witness this otherwise witless man appearing too intelligent?

I may just be being a bit picky (after all I do like the sketch) but could it not work better if GWB had just had his discussion with the dead dictator and actually thought that it had gone quite well. All the Python lines could still remain but be delivered by one of his aids. Thoughts?

I couldn't think of anyone else.

The idea about an aide is a good one, but as this is last minute for Treason I didn't want the extra lines.

Also thinking about it, it could be played as a blustering, angry idiot?

Interesting ideas, thanks.

For what it's worth, I thought it may go something like this......

GEORGE BUSH HAS JUST FINISHED NEGOTIATIONS WITH NORTH KOREAN DICTATOR KIM JUNG ILL, HE IS LOOKING VERY PLEASED WITH HIMSELF.

GEORGE

I think I'm finally getting the hang of this negotiating lark. He had no answer for any of my demands.

PRESIDENT'S AIDE

I'll just go and thank him for his time, then we can be off.

AIDE RETURNS WITH A HORRIFIED EXPRESSION

PRESIDENT'S AIDE

Mr President sir, he is dead

GEORGE

Dead? No surely not, he's just kipping.

PRESIDENT'S AIDE

Kipping?! Kipping is he? Hello pretty Polly, I've got a massive military parade for you, owz about some nice Weapons of Destruction?

Sir, that is a dead dictator.

GEORGE

Damn and tarnation. I thought the negotiations were going well. Are you sure he's dead?

PRESIDENT'S AIDE

Sir, he is dead. He has ceased to be, he has fallen off the perch of life. He is no more. He is a dead dictator

GEORGE

Well you learn something new everyday. Do you think the negotiations will still stand? I thought I had done rather well.

PRESIDENT'S AIDE

Yes, I wouldn't worry sir, after all John McCain has been clinically dead for years, but we are still going to let him take over from you.

GEORGE

Smart guy that McCain, smart guy.

Sorry to rewrite, just wanted to show you what I meant.:)

Nice dialogue, 'politburo invisble' especially.

I like the rewrite by SM but I wouldn't say (from the point of view of the 'punter' audience) that it adds anything to the original sketch. The Python lines are still just as funny and the new Bush lines work equally well. Net gain = zero? Be interested to see what Soot thinks. Nice one though, SM! :)

Laughing out loud Net gain = Zero. Story of my life, thanks Frankie :D

Well, only from the punter point of view (e.g. me).

Soot the writer may well gain/have gained something from your views as Frankie (the would be writer) did in reading the dialogue between you and Soot and your rewrite of his sketch (if you get my drift..)

Btw my net gain in life so far (at a well-ripened age..) is approaching zero at the moment (coming back up from the negative!) not in part at having found this site and others and begining to find outlets for my creative bits and pieces!

Frankie xxx :)

I really liked it, especially the 'politburo invisible', that's great.

McCain? He's an ex-senator. He's had his chips. Groan.
