Wow, so completely wrong. I don't really see how something like The Boosh could ever be considered conservative or safe?? Whether you like the show or not, the fact that you could say something like that just boggles my mind. It's boggling Sooty, look how it boggles!

On the subject of Rich Fulcher, I was wondering whether anybody has any kind of opinion, half-arsed or comprehensive, about the show he did with Matt Berry, 'Snuff Box'.

What I've seen of it, I've found it funny,

Worth buying on dvd, or what?

Ps. Wouldn't bother being embarrassed because of not knowing it was him. He's not exactly a household f**king name, is he? Just because he's 'on telly', doesn't mean he isn't just another arsehole, eh?

(Nor does it rule out the fact that he might be a great bloke, but you know what I mean.)

I don't think we disagree very often Soots but I would have to disagree on that point. Aside from how good or bad the show might be the Mighty Boosh is the opposite of Conservative in both senses.
I would say that putting the Boosh on air was a pretty big risk. There is no way in hell that show would have made it onto any North American station. It's weird, creepy and offbeat humor is not something for the mainstream.
In the second sense it's feminine, it's jokes are raunchy and eludes to a homosexuality....what am I saying its two main characters made out in the last season and proclaimed their love for each other.
I personally really like the show but I like it specifically because it's so out there.

On the Rich Fulcher thing I feel bad for the guy. I think he has a lot of talent and he's overlooked in his own country. If I were him I'd head back to the US and try my hand at Second City. I think he'd be brilliant.

snuffbox, in my half arsed opinion, is fantastic; imaginative, dark and very very funny to boot. surprised it didn't get recommissioned. maybe they had other projects on.........

When I was speaking to one of my friends, after said incident, he said that Rich had pitched a one man show to a mainstream festival this year, but they turned him down.

I don't know a lot about the show, but apparently a large proportion of the mighty boosh audience is indeed the audience who would attend a festival in whatever context....

whilst the boosh is experimental, i feel a tangible sense that it is vastly overated,In my experiencem,many of the fans of the show are very die hard in my experince but they dont seem to enjoy more traditional comedies...

maybe i just feel bitter that A Boosh fan friend of mine derided the quality of Father Ted in favour of the Boosh.. to which I honestly feel sickened to the point of dissoloution of the friendship...

i think the boosh is ok, at times its brilliant but it does misfire quite often IMO. I think its benefiting from the lack of credible comedies to compete with...alongside Trexx and Flipside the Boosh resembles the Mona Lisa

It does get a bit boring sometimes, though, doesn't it?

I still haven't watched the whole thing, although I normally am the kind of person who likes that kind of show.

hmmm. i confess to having only seen the clips on youtube. not the dvd. perhaps i've only lapped on the cream. that's why my opinion was a self confessed half arsed! I know where you're coming from though. The 'boyfriend' sketches, intially, were hilarious. But, as with a lot of repeat sketches, once the formula is known they tend to have less of an impact. anyway i think berry is such a fine comedy actor he could make most material 'funny'. you should check out 'darkplace' too (if you haven't already).

Don't judge a show by its (well, some of its) fans!

At some point the NME seem to have adopted them as their pet so they are now loved by a lot of trendy posey twatty types, but that's hardly the Boosh's fault. They have plenty of other fans, that liked them prior to that.

Should I give Snuffbox another go? I don't think I got past the third sketch of episode one, I thought it was that bad.

Well, I don't know. It's definitely not for everyone.

It took me about 4 episodes to properly get it, then I became a bit obsessed.

Hm. Well, yeah. Hm.
