I was just wondering what people's experiences were of sending them scripts?
By the way, they didn't produce Spaced, did they?

I was going to send them something but I think it gets read by a receptionist first.
So I decided not to waste my time.
I sent them something. Never heard back. Ho hum.

I had a script recommended to the Comedy script editor there a while back and had to sign forms etc to say that the work was mine blah blah blah then they cracked on and read my script. That was last year and I haven't heard back.

Yeah, it's stuff like that that puts me off.
I've got stuff going on elsewhere now anyway so it doesn't matter.
I understand all BCC submissions get fed to the writer's room pig.
If it squeals and it's tail curls you're in, if it sulks and shits you're out.
My paedophile dinosaur sitcom killed it, and I am now banned from submitting.
I got the name of someone to send a script to at Talkback, so I did a polite letter saying I'd written a script and gave them a brief synopsis. They wrote back quite quickly asking me to send the full script and gave me a release form to sign.
I sent it off, heard nothing for a few months then got a letter which basically said, have read your script but do not have any plans to take it further, or words to that effect.
One thing I did like about them was how they actually got back to you quite quickly with the whole affair. Obviously it would have made it a better experience if they had said, 'Hey Def, we love your work, this is gonna be huge, have a £20k advance, wanna do lunch?' but sadly this wasn't to be.
Def.

It's not unheard of that someone should contact Talkback and something can come of it. A friend of mine sent a script in, they liked it and he wrote some skecthes for a show back in 2001/02.
I'm certainly going to send my next script there whether a receptionist reads it or not as why discount sending a script to a company because of what one person has said. Surely it's better to have a receptionist at Talkback reading your script than nobody at all.

When you say full script, do you mean 6 full, completed episodes? Also, do they say they want them sending straight away?

I mean one complete script for the first episode. My research had led me to understand that Talkback do not like unsolicited scripts so I basically wrote to them, gave them the synopsis, told them my thoughts on where the idea could go & included rough ideas for a first series. I concluded by saying that I am happy to send them the full episode script if they would like to read it.
Eight days later I got a letter back with a release form to sign and them asking me to send the script for them to read.
This method worked to get my script read, so I must have done something right.

No Spaced was produced by LWT/Paramount
They did produce I'm Alan Partridge though

Normally, but now I've got a ton of other stuff going on, there no point.
Call me big-headed, but why have a receptionist read my work when I've got important people doing it elsewhere.

True.
But I would say in terms of unsolicited, unrepresented writers they see about one per year.

They tell you that Seefacts, but it's probably the cleaner reading yours.

I consider cleaner ABOVE receptionist!
