Rhod Gilbert

His candle/torch bit had me in stiches, he really is very good!

He's doing a show about 5 minutes from me, so I think I'm gonna go. He's been funny on Mock The Week.

Watched Rhod Gilbert last night. He was very good, if not ever so slightly angry throughout the whole act! I couldn't help but think that we, his audience were providing him with a little bit of therapy whilst he ranted on about his ex!

Out of all the crop of stage comedians I think Rhod is probably the one I like best. His rage at every simple thing, his insistence on trying to change it is inspired.

I have no idea who he is, but I do know that he is an absolute f**king c**t.

Be a lover not a hater there is no need for this type of hatred....

The guy is a genius I love his stand up. His baggage sketch is hilarious.

The guy is a genius

What, like Leonardo Da Vinci or Mozart? I might have to see him then.

Went to see his new show "The Man with the Flaming Battenburg Tattoo" last night at the Hammersmith Apollo.

I found the first half not quite as good as the second and was annoyed I had to leave at 11.10pm to catch the last tubes etc. It is all about how he isn't angry any more, but actually - he got quite wound up regarding a silly point about the backs of toilet doors... and I found that the best bit, as he started to get angry. The first half annoyed me a little bit as it repeated his rant about the rubbish present his misses bought him on Christmas Day... I'd already seen it and although he said there were bits in his rant that hadn't been shown on TV I just felt a bit like I'd heard it all before.

He's very good, and I found it easy to watch him.

Definitely recommend the show.

I saw the DVD of The Man With The Flaming Battenberg Tattoo today.

It's f**king brilliant. Properly hilarious.

I could take or leave Gilbert before seeing this, but now I may have to elevate him into my top five stand-ups.

It's a real work of art.

I'm just a bit jealous. I think I will have to order this for a Christmas present for myself. I could ask for it but I would probably end up with a Rhod Stewart DVD. I always get blank looks when I ask for a stand-up DVD. Imagine the confusion would be double when I explain that you have to buy it online.

Be a lover not a hater there is no need for this type of hatred....

Au contraire, there is every need for this type of hatred and more.

Rhod Gilbert is an unfunny, dull, regional comedian that has confused shouting with comedy. If he doesn't get a chuckle for one of his overtly pedestrian observations on life, he bullies the audience into laughing. As a lot of people are weak willed drones, they will laugh just so he stops shouting at them.

His observations are weak sauce and he seems to have trouble grasping even the simplest of concepts, situations and household appliances. If he began his act by saying that he had just been released from jail, for hermetic deaf-blindness victims, during the Bronze Age, then maybe some of his material would ring true. As it is, he just comes across as the world's stupidest Welsh man... (insert your own joke here - it'll be funnier then Rhod's trust me).

His television show 'Ask Rhod Gilbert' is like QI for super retards (QI being the show for average retards) and his faux outrage at triviality is entirely disproportionate to the level of anxiety.

If you are bored at home and want to write your own Rhod Gilbert material, then just choose anything, anything at all and embue it with psychotic rage. Here's one I've come up with right now...

'Ben and Jerry?! Ben and Jerry?!! Why does it take two people to make one ice cream?!!!!!' blah, blah, zzzzzz, etc.
