The Sitcom Trials 2008 Page 9

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on the website to see which plays made it. I take it it's the sitcom trails website I need to look at. I googled Simon Wright and got an MP's website!

it's

http://www.every1sacritic.com/Every1sacritic/Competition.html

hope it works, then click on 'blogs' at the top.

Nope! I've heard nothing either!

I would assume by now that the 16 winners have been informed.

I expect so too. Anyone want to fess up? You can PM if you like...

Thanks. The link works fine. I'll check it from time to time to see who won (I agree that the winners would almost certainly know who they are by now).

You're all winners unless you didn't win

anyone brave enough to email Simon and ask?

Patience asshopper...

I've been lurking on here for a couple of weeks to see if anybody had heard and took the plunge and emailed Simon recently to confirm that if I hadn't heard by now that it meant I'd not made the cut. He hasn't responded, which either means that he's busy with the winners and hasn't got time for losers, or that an announcement might be made soon.

When I sent my entry in he responded with some pretty positive comments (and quite promptly too), so I'm a little surprised at the non-reply - although given the post on the blog, I probably should have just stayed patient.

I'm so glad you did that because I was just about to do that myself!!!

A lot of people on here have had success in other competitions so I'm really surprised that if the winners have already been announced, nobody on here made the final 16. Also, Simon is really good at responding to emails, he got back to me on the two occasions I contacted him within like four minutes.

You're right, you'd have thought that someone would have been successful and pleased enough to want to share it with others - unless they're sworn to secrecy!

300 scripts is a lot, so give them a chance! I know when people ask me to read *a* script, it can take me a couple of weeks to get around to it and I can't imagine what having a pile of 300 to look at in a very short space of time even feels like!

They're ready when they're ready. Just forget about it and move on with the next thing -- you've got two months (nearly) to write something for Comedy Lab. Even if that doesn't work out, at the very least it'll mean you have some new script to work with.

Dan

Yeah, both of them are really good about replying promptly to emails and friendly with it. Leicester Place is a new venue so there must be a lot to organize as well. Maybe if you send an email, however understandable when you are full of suspense over this, which is more or less answered on the website, they don't bother answering. Maybe ... I don't know ... :)

Fair enough Dan - I suspect it's the stated aim that the first show is on the 24th September that's got people wondering. If there wasn't a definite start date I think people would be more than happy to bide their time.
