Diamond Geezer Page 2

I thought Diamond Geezer was terrible. So 'fumbly'.

There was a scene in the second one where the old spy was trying to teach David the 'ways of the secret agent' by showing him how to exchange some information (on a piece of paper I think, can't quite remember since my brain was pretty numb at this point) unobserved.

However (in an hilarious turn of events!), David pick-pocketed the old spy's watch and wallet etc. instead.

Gad it was so rubbish. I just sat there thinking 'what a pair of old duffers'.

Charle? I did of course mean Charley.

It was disappointing, yeah. And considering David Jason's in good things usually. But, in all honesty, I like him as Del but I don't really like him personally, as I read his biography a while ago. It was called The Dream Team and was SUPPOSED to be about the lives of David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst and, in particular, the history of Only Fools and their on screen chemisry etc. But it wasn't at all. The writers clearly have an unhealthy obsession with David Jason as they have written about five books on him - and no exaggeration. In this one, Lyndhurst gets literally five pages of his life and then - again honestly - about two pages at the end concerning his wedding in 1999. In between, it was all about David Jason.

It said that, when he eventually had success with Only Fools, there was the chance of showing his earlier shows: A Sharp Intake of Breath, Lucky Fella and The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs. But he vetoed any potential repeats - but his former cast members were furious as, by this time, they needed the couple of grand that the repeats could bring. So I think he's a bit of a ... you know ... in real life. And selfish too. But that's just the impression I got, you understand.

I heard that he doesn't allow OFAH clips to be shown if he has any say in it, as he doesn't want to be typecast.

Sure I've said that before though...

Yeah, and I think I read that the other members of the cast don't like it either. But it's a bit late to be worrying about being type cast now. And, to a degree, I think when you're old and type cast, it also means you're remembered, which isn't a bad thing.
