British Comedy Guide

What's the scariest, eeriest thing you've..

seen on tv? It might be a bit meh now that you're all growed up but what made you tape your eyes open at night?

I'll get the ball rolling with the following.

1. La Cabina

2. Tales of The Unexpected-the one where the man turned into a bee

3. Twilight Zone-The one with the Hitchhiker

4. Rainbow-*looks at other posters as they point and laugh*. F**k you, Bungle's face was eerily overcrowded.

The Evil Dead - The bit with the pencil.

The Twilight Zone Movie - The girl with no face

Poltergiest - The laughing clown doll.

Pet Cemetary - The reveal of the old woman with the spiny back.

1) This right here was the scariest thing I ever saw on TV. The television movie of IT scarred me for life.

Honestly I didn't have a problem with clowns until I saw this movie at age 12.
2) The theme song for Dr. Who. My dad used to watch the old black and white episodes and the theme song would have me running. It's of course no longer scary to me but I still find it a bit eerie when I hear it today.
3) The old Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe television program. Don't know why, I think it was a mix of boredom and puppetry.
4) Marjory, the Trash Heap from Fraggle ROck.

I can never understand it when people say they watched Dr Who from behind the sofa. I always stayed on the couch where others were. Why the hell would you isolate yourself by being behind the sofa?

Safety in numbers etc...

Hmmm good point...it seems I was a very erational child.

Actually I was cursed with an overactive imagination. Consider Alice in Wonderland if you will...what the f**k was the deal with the growing and shrinking and growing and shrinking ad nauseam.

Don't even get me started on that white rabbit with his posh get-up and pocket watch.

I hid behind a cushion if anything.

Two of mine are the same as Curt's! The Dr Who theme and the noise of the TARDIS scared me more than anything else in the show.

And the clown from IT is the scariest thing in the world, still. Also the Freddie Elm Street films, and Poltergeist, etc etc. All the scary 80s and 90s films.

Worzel Gummidge.

That kids show that everyone thinks was called Nnightmare but wasn't, where kids stepped along a grid in space and got zapped into un-existence if they stepped the wrong way.

The Devil Rides Out. Hammer House of Horrors film. Most of their stuff scared me when I was young.

I found The Martian Chronicles pretty eerie.

Ever read "Wind in the Willows" that books' characters change shape and size so much you would have to give a kid gravol to get threw it.

(1) King Kong, the original version. We have bush behind our house and I used to think he would emerge at dusk.
(2) Picnic at Hanging Rock, an Aussie film you won't have heard of. Still sets my neck-hair on end. Eeeerie.
(3) Rocco's Modern Life; no idea why.

Totally scared the crap out me... can you guess what it's from? It's a film.

The Never Ending Story?

OH YEA NIL! I absolutely love that show you have as your Icon. What was the name of that show?

Yep... it's actually making me ache from the sheer feeling scared.

@Curt - Jamie & the Magic Torch. :)
