Is there an ITV sitcom that David Chapman likes? Page 2

Shelley is the greatest ITV sitcom of all time in my opinion and I urge everyone on this entire forum to go out and buy the first three series on DVD.

Worthy, yet tedious shite. Not funny enough.

Thanks for that lovely opinion, I'll ignore it all the same

So then Aaron, why don't you think I'll like Agony?

It just doesn't strike me that it has that "charm" you seem to enjoy in other and older "vintage" programmes.

Though I think more classic comedy was produced by the Beeb, ITV has its share of excellent shows.
The obvious ones being stuff like Rising Damp, Man About The House, George & Mildred, etc, but Shelley, Agony, It Takes A Worried Man, Hot Metal and The New Statesman were all excellent, too.

Has DC done a Meet The Writers interview? I'd like to read that.

I thought that was only for good writers.

Ah now the New Statesman and Hot Metal were good.

So, basically David Chapman likes only BBC products...

hey do seem to have that extra class!

David likes Porn ITV.

To be fair ITV is Turd-Tastic when it comes to making comedy.

I've always had more than a sneaking suspicion that ITV has a deliberate if publicly unacknowledged approach in all its programming of playing safe and applying the lowest common denominator approach.

I can hardly think of any mass entertainment scenario in which it has blazed a trail and the phrase 'ITV cutting edge comedy' trips with some difficulty off the tongue. They prefer, and always have preferred, the 'downmarket' philosophy.

Anyway, IMHO it's been Channel 4 which has taken over from the Beeb in recent years as the leading provider of GOOD (i.e. rather than outlandish) sitcoms.
