Funniest Scene In A Sitcom... Page 2

Oh me oh my! Sooooo difficult to choose. Hmmmmmmm! Probably Father Ted & dougal writing their eurovision song entry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsISf1HW_nU&mode=related&search=
You have to watch it all. If you dont lurrrrrve it you are sick in the head. Sick I say. Ill as f**k.

Oh and this. Fawlty Towers - The Germans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MbeT7_ARm8

One of my fav scenes in a comedy film is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pz_RrbtrOI&mode=related&search=
I aint telling you what it is. You will have to wait & see.

it's so hard to pick one scene.

MASH - any scene, when Hawkeye and Trapper or BJ are drunk/hungover.
Hawkeye: what's your problem?
BJ: I'm dying
Hawkeye: you know what your problem is?
BJ: I'm not dying fast enough

Vicar from Dibley
Xmas episode, preparing for Nativity play...and well, the play itself.
Jim (prompting): Be not afraid...
Vicar: No, BE afraid! Be VERY afraid!

Blackadder II:
Lord and Lady Whiteadder visit. "Exactly the shape of a thingy!"

Yes M/PM - any scene where Jim Hacker and Humphrey Appleby converse with Bernard listening and insert some wisecrack from time to time.

I liked the AV Charley - especially the monkey. I've never actually seen it before.

My favourites are The Chandelier in OF&H plus the River Dance in the Caravan in Father Ted.

Dad's Army and the captured German who asks Pvt Pike:

"And vat iss your name?"

Quick as a flash Mainwaring says:

"Don't tell him Pike"

Alan Partrige - 'Mentalist' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3YUlcyPXLo

Father Ted - 'The 3 stages of Elvis'- (sorry, can't find link)

Am I the only pedant to say these aren't scenes, they are moments?

Okay, maybe I am.

I have said for years the Fawlty branch-bashing of the mini is my favourite sitcom moment, so yeah, that one. And in that case, it actually is a scene.

Lots to choose from, but best are:

Peep Show -- The scene where Jeremey 'blacks' up to break one last taboo with Nancy and she pretends to be his mother. The look he gives Mark when he leaves the bedroom is the icing on the cake.

Joking Apart -- Last episode of first series, when Mark is hiding in the bathroom from Robert after almost sleeping with Tracey. Robert knows a man is in the bathroom and rings Mark up to ask his advice on the situation. Classic farce.

Extras -- Andy trying to direct Keith Chegwin.

Joey -- Going to see the new house with Hiemlich, the robot baby he had with his sister.

Dan

It would have to be the coach scene in Jolly Boys' Outing.

for me its the LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN.
two potential scenes both involving Jeff, Mike and Brian.
1. Bummers are deaf - when they are walking to the pub for lunch discussing the bummers are deaf joke.
2. the best man speech - two mums. "our mums got cancer, mine got better, but yours died"

and the first time i saw Papa Lazarou

Series 1-3 of Arrested Development

Excellent. I think Geoff is my favourite League character.

Curb: Larry and Cheryl discussing staying or leaving after learning of a terrorist attack.

Partridge: The pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre. Or "Dan...Dan"!

Seinfeld: Kramer "I'm out of the contest".

League of Gents: Pam Douvre "Scu beef, av arybody got any boccle av arange juuf"

and staying with the LOG: That bizarre game of statues the doctor plays where the winner gets treated. Just insane.

Loads more that I can't think of.

So many great examples here guys. And Charley, I do love Ace Ventura. :D

For me though, without a doubt, it's from Bless This House, S05E01, 'They Don't Write Songs Like That Anymore', where Sid has finally finished composing his song.

I love Bertha Brown,
She's the biggest girl in town,
It's her chest that made the fellas all turn round.
It's a pity she's lopsided;
It's the way that they're divided:
One weighs nothing and the other weighs ten pounds.

The whole orchestration of the scene - facial expressions, mannerisms, body language, etc - is just pure brilliance, and cracks me up every time.

And just for Badge, yes, the whole scene, not a 'moment'. :)

Now if you're talking about dated sitcoms........
