Mutual Friends

Now I hope this is in the right section.

So, did anyone watch this just now? Overall I thought it was very enjoyable. The whole cast were good and Alexander Armstrong was on form. My favourite line came from Marc Warren's "son", Daniel.

Daniel: Is Carl is heaven now?
Carl's Wife: Yes. Yes he is.
Daniel: Good. Now he can stop shagging mummy.

I think I'll watch next week.

Argh. It was broadcast today? I thought it had been on Sunday and kept wondering why it didn't *appear* anywhere. There was an interview thing with Warren in the Sunday Times.

I missed it too. And created another thread at exactly the same time. Spooky.

Worth downloading though it seems!

It'll be on the iPlayer soon if anyone here actually uses that.

Nope. :P

I shall now move it to the correct forum.

I do! Not sure it'll be on torrents. Not that I ever use those things.

Isn't this a sitcom?

I watched it and overall thought it was good. There were a couple of instances where the coincidence was a bit forced though.

Especially where Warren*'s strong boss became a giggling schoolgirl after Armstrong* was flattering her.

There was a bit of "exposition" that shouted out to me and we're kept getting told not to use it.

But I will be watching it all.

* sorry - I can never remember characters' names.,

Cheers Aaron. It's a comedy drama I guess.

Isn't this a sitcom?

Definitely not - this is light drama with comedy.

Hasn't it all been done a thousand times before? In The Big Chill and Thirtysomething and Peter's Friends. Desperately unimaginative.

Yes! I loved that bit! I found it so easy to watch - really enjoyable. The speech about "we're still all wondering how to get home without him" was genius. Nearly had me in tears!

Everything has been done before. It is what you do with it, and how you do it, that counts. I thought this was very sharp and thoroughly enjoyable.

Yes, it was excellent. Favourite exchange was between Martin and wife, when he'd been admitted to the psychiatric ward. Have to watch it, but found that particularly amusing, especially having grown up in Ipswich.

Martin (upset) - Are you moving to Norwich then?
Wife - Norwich! Are you mad?
Martin - Yes.
