Davison was a good actor in a lousy era.
Colin Baker was the beginning of the end.

Funny how those two were the ones that got the most hatred piled on them.
I have to say, though, that I liked Turn Left mostly for its central idea (the role of a companion in the Doctor's adventures) and because I liked Donna. There were a lot of things in that episode that made me cringe.
Quote: Griff @ August 25 2008, 3:19 PM BSTI actually liked Colin Baker's haughty, grumpy performance. (Surprise!! - Griff likes grumpy people...). But the stories during his era were hopeless.
The only Dr likely to be stabbed to death in a pub brawl.
Turn left shockingly revealed Catherine Tate was a good actress. Makes you realise she was wasted all those weeks.
Looks like I have to start watching the old Doctor Who. I hate not having an opinion.
Watch Trial of a TimeLord it's the best one ever!
Waits for inevitable stor,
... storm?
storm of brick bats.
I'm never confused only my typing.

Well I like it. And Colin Bakers era wasn't all bad, Vengance On Varos was a winner; Though his era in the show was probably the worst really in the shows history; which is a real shame as given the right scripts he would have been great. Ok, I say the worst in the shows history, but I love all eras really; even if it's generally thought of as 'bad', i like it.

And Moffats Library ones. There were a few too many underwhelming ones last series, not bad, but not special; especially in the firs half. I think it shows it was the right time for a bit of a break and a new show runner to shake things up again.
How about a cross over?
Between?

Silence in the Library was very good, but I maintain not as good.
All that Summerfield bilge was a nuisance.
Good to see the ray guns again.

Emerdale and Dr Who.
Do you think Moffat will change the title sequence? The New Who logo is neither modern nor retro, nor simple, nor pretty. It's just meh.
For me, it's interesting to watch the very first Hartnell episode again. I saw it first on telly when originally broadcast. It's now on youtube.
It's atmospheric, dark, menacing.. what IS the old man doing with a disturbed young girl in a scrapyard?, no special effects.
That first episode was truly frightening in 1962 and caused a lot of concern from parents. Even the theme tune and credits were weird (for then).
Give me a 2008 version like that; that frightens kids so they hide under the table (we really did do that, truly) and gives them nightmares and genuinely upsets parents.
That's Dr Who.
Quote: Griff @ August 25 2008, 3:28 PM BSTTrue. The worst episode of Doctor Who is still infinitely better than the greatest episode of Emmerdale.
I would happily settle for a whole series-worth of Timelash over another dull cop or hospital based drama series that seem to clog the schedules. Or any of the Who wannabes that have risen in it's wake to try and grab a slice of its success; I'm talkng Robin Hood and Primevil. Dull.
