Woohoo finally I got paid for something. The other day I got a check from NewRevue for £101.72. Kerching. I would frame it but i need the money so i'm going to photocopy it and frame that.

Nice one!

What's NewRevue by the way?

Congratulations AJP
Was that for one or a few sketches?

It was for a series of sketches, one about the diana concert, one was about Blair apologising for slavery (which they used twice in each show) and another one i can't remeber at the moment. I also have one they are using at the moment (but they aren't paying for current sketches at the moment).

Newsrevue is a satirical stage review (like Beyond the Fringe). The website is

http://www.newsrevue.com/

Just email them some stuff and if they like it they'll add you to their writers list. Then you can email whenever you have anything funny and topical.

Thanks for all the congratulations everyone.

I am currently re-writting my first episode of my sitcom and have just recieved some great feedback from a freelance script reader who works for the BBC! Made many basic errors however now know whats needed. Have written 3 episodes for this series, just want to re-write and re-write until perfect then will send to everyone and their mothers.
More importantly than that i'm getting married in less than 2 weeks so working on my speech all help and advice appreciated gotta try and not turn it into a stand up routine the misses will go nuts.

Congrats. Keep it simple is my advice. Most people will be pretty pissed by then so don't give them too much to think about. I actually half giggled before telling a joke and even that got a laugh.

Best advice is don't worry about looking like a knob. If the best man does his job properly, you should anyway. So really doesn't matter if you look that way beforehand ;)

Oh, and congrats

Dan

Don't do it !!!!!!

Wait, David... you forgot to add 'f**king' in that sentence. Y'know... in keeping with your other posts this morning. ;)

well i went to a wedding where the groom was not only bald but his head was shaped remarkably similar to that of a bell-end, so he literally looked like a knob anyway.

I'm f***ing working from home and you lot are all distracting me. It's not writing stuff - it's part of my job so it's got to be done.

LOl David, I`m trying to do the same, then it`s the phone, the mobile, the door etc, etc.

Congrats and well done ajp:D

I've just started thinking about sitcom/comedy writing, so I'm not as far along as other people. Just got the 'How To Be A Sitcom Writer' book which is proving very useful. I've just thought up an idea for a sitcom and have been writing rough ideas down etc, but I'm a long way off! Enjoying the process though and it keeps me busy.

Read my blogs on www.myspace.com/gram_caxton as I enjoyed writing them. They're just little articles really, but I wouldn't mind adapting some of them for stand up. They're inspired by Stewart Lee, Richard Herring and the whole 'cringe humour' phenomena; I warn you now that you may be offended by them! My sitcom ideas are completely different though and much more palatable.......

Had a quick look Winterlight and it is very narrative.

I would suggest that you do it as a book or a radio "diary" type thing.

It is all words and without a complete rewrite I don't think it would work for TV or visually.

That is of course just MY opinion for what it's worth. (Probably not a lot)

I've began writing a new stand up routine, which is better than the other piece of crap which I called a stand up routine, but my PScomedy myspace is no more as my mate is having some stupid breakdown and wont help me with it anymore...

errrr bye!

Thanks Jude :)
