Foibles and Idiosyncrasies - don't be shy

This won't be as popular as my other thread, but here goes! (And to make Slag A feel better)

10 things you do, and feel, or think that are a bit 'out there'.

1 - I hate anything with little random holes in it. Like cheese, or seaside walls which get worn down by waves. I feel queasy at the very sight of the middle of an Aero for example.

2 - The minute I finish a conversation I'll often re-run it in my head, repeating bits over and over, sometimes changing it if I think of something that I should have said. Strangely it's mainly conversations with women, so I curse myself for not making the conversation what it could have been.

3 - I'll sometimes listen to a song over and over again if I like it enough. When I got back from the cinema to see Wall-E I downloaded, (ahem), bought the brilliant theme song by Peter Gabriel and listened to it non stop for about an hour and a half.

4 - I touch my bedstead before I go to sleep. (No euphemism there!)

5 - Despite not being superstitious at all, I never have my car CD player on '13' for volume. I also won't have my TV volume on an odd number, and routinely put it on '20' for when I'm eating my breakfast.

6 - I have a crippling fear of wasps.

7 - I've travelled a round trip of 14 miles to do something I could have done on the phone, simply because I despise having to ring strangers.

8 - I'll keep tapping my 'wallet' pocket when I'm out to check it's still there.

9 - I NEVER put my right shoe on first. Right sock, yes, but never shoe.

10 - I never change my regular driving routes because I sometimes worry Sod's law will see my killed if I take a different road.

11 - I refuse to open crisps from the 'bottom' of the packet. I wouldn't dream of doing that.

12 - (For Zooo) The sight of someone cleaning their teeth makes me gag.

13 - Like number 3, I'll sometimes play a small part of a song over and over. Like the intro to 'Sledgehammer' by Peter Gabriel. I'll also sometimes watch a joke from a sitcom or stand up act over and over if it's delivered well.

I do seefacts's numbers 2 and 3.
And 12, only it's the sound. Can't STAND it.

I also say goodnight (in my head) to my cat (er, who is dead) last thing before I go to sleep every night. I have to do it otherwise something bad might happen. :$

Oh dear.

There are more, but I'll have to remember them first.

Counting.

:D:D

Yeah, I thought of some more after I posted.

It's like therapy. I think people should embrace this kind of stuff.

Occupational counting disorder

I have an almost unhealthy desire to pee or wish not to get caught out. This manifests itself in excessive visits to use the bathrooms, twice before a film, once after. Twice during a restaurant meal etc.

I think I may have a tiny psychological disorder. >_<

It's quite scary how many of the things you posted that I do, Seefacts

Checking how words like occupational are spelt on online dictionaries, even though you know how they are spelt, but they look odd typed out like that and you know Aaron is watching.

I do seefacts's numbers 2 and 3.

The conversation thing?

I tell myself it helps me hone dialogue writing skills, rather than me being a mental.

My missus does that.

The conversation thing?

Yes. It is a good way to study how people really talk.
But I also sometimes do it to see if I said anything stupid. :)

*shudders at the thought*

Don't most people do it to an extent though?

I dunno. I'll lie in bed and replay conversations, and add bits on that didn't happen.

What did you say to Dara whatsisface in the edited conversation?

Quote: Griff @ August 19 2008, 11:46 PM BST

Yeah, I do it. My wife can tell when I'm pissed off about something because I start muttering like a tramp.

Laughing out loud I just tend to look at people like they're a poor person trying to steal my shoe.

"F**k you, Mock The Week is shit, I've got some sketches on a Comedy Lab, and I've got hair you big baldy bastard!!!"
