Dunno but it could be to do with timing or the events themselves. it would be nice to have jam packed stadiums but its the participation that counts most and i wouldnt call it a spectacle, in some ways it takes more courage and determination for paralympians to compete than it does olympians. as you may know from my other post on here im looking into training in wheelchair racing and would love it if i competed in the 2012 paralypmics and it would be awesome if lots of people were there. this is the first time ive watched the olympics and the paralympics, it would be interesting to see the differences, like do the competitors get interviewed after the event like they do in the olympics?
I wrote a lot of sketches around sports for a two forty five minute German programme going out at the time of the olympics before last. One of the series I did was around the notion of a local version of paralympics. A sign reading Wheelchair Discus.. 3 O'clock. Then cutting to man in the net swirling round and then throwing a wheelchair, whilst officals run out to mark the length. They didnt go with those particular sketches as they thought it might offend. I didn't think they were offensive... but what do you think?

It was a bloo krayon.
It must have washed off in the rain. I'll speak to Jimmy Saville and see if he can organise something.
