Sorry to be a rather dense (and possibly irritating?!) blonde, but I sent my entry off today. Do we get any kind of confirmation? It seems some comps you do, some comps you don't....

I got confirmation but it was partly 'cause I sent it off AGES agao and they didn't want me to think nothing was happening.
I'm really getting excited about this comp even though I know I never stand a chance.
It must be wonderful to get 'that' email when they say your script has been selected.

Same thing here.
Quote: Griff @ August 7 2008, 11:09 PM BSTWhat with rehearsals and script rewrites and attending the heats and dragging friends voters along and helping with sourcing props and costumes the whole thing pretty much took over my life for a couple of months. Which is why I was so wound up when I saw how shoddy the voting process was.
Hmm. I was trying to write something for this, and have something I could send, but hearing about the voting process and the way the whole thing works means I probably won't bother.
Also, my entry is total rubbish, which puts me off as well

It hasn't put me off!
Deadline's today I think.
And welcome Unlikelyheroine!
I've entered one of mine and Charley's. Maybe I'll dig something else out too.
Quote: Griff @ August 14 2008, 6:20 PM BSTDeadline is TOMORROW, Friday the 15th, right up until midnight (I emailed them to check).
It's worth entering. If they like your script you'll get into the heats, where your stuff gets performed at least once. After that, it's a who's-got-the-most-mates competition, until the final, when it's judged by industry reps.
That was the deal last year, anyway. For all I know the guys could have dreamt up something completely different this time round.
Thanks for the info. It sounds like it might involve quite a bit of work though, if you do get through - from how you have described things. Not that I am afraid of a bit of hard work on something but say, by some ridiculous chance, I did get selected, and then I put work in it (and with my job I have very little free time), and then it came down to the fact I HAVE GOT NO FRIENDS - well - I don't think I'd be happy!
Thanks for the welcome David Chapman
Quote: Griff @ August 14 2008, 8:13 PM BSTIt would be fab if you and Charley got through. I'd have to come along and vote for you whether I get one in or not.
Thank you - but on past form I can't see it happening!

OK - that's not my real name. It's one of these clever ones with a hidden meaning. It means I'm too thick to know how things are done.

Ah. Ah-ha. This isn't my real name, either. *tapping nose*
I don't know how ANYTHING'S done.
I'm staring at my second draft knowing I've got a lot of polishing to do and almost admitting defeat that (as usual) I've left this too late to do.
Just thought I'd spread the joy.
Quote: Griff @ August 15 2008, 10:00 PM BSTMine could have definitely done with another couple of drafts.
Better to send it in than not, though, Nuts? Go for it.
Yep just submitted. No time for a fifth read through. I'm glad I have done it as I learnt a lot more about the process which should keep me in good stead for the next pilot which I'll start on Monday and have two and half months to complete - rather than a week! Thanks for the encouragement and good luck with yours.
Quote: Griff @ August 16 2008, 12:01 AM BSTCheers Mr.Nuts. Agree completely about competition deadlines - ugh. There's a couple more deadline-y things coming up - Red Planet, and Comedy Lab - and after that I'm looking forward to taking a long time perfecting something, only showing it to someone when I'm completely happy.
I've got three bloody ideas for comedy lab 2009. Why couldn't I just have one!? I'm not doing Red Planet so I'll have some sort of rest bite. Then there's the RISE Film deadline at the end of September.

You've got NaNoWriMo coming up in November don't forget.
I thought about a second entry (!) but I ran out of time.
I've finished my RISE entry so now I'm working on Comedy Lab. I'm not doing Red Planet this year. I thought I had a good idea but it turns out it's already been done and I couldn't think of a good twist.
