BRITISH COMEDY GUIDE

COMEDY'S OWN

Did you see what I did there?

:)

I thought - what? Then I said it to myself out loud! Laughing out loud

Laughing out loud Fascist! *runs away*

You can sit on my fascist any day, dahlink.

It could be the best one yet.

BCG a jab to the funny bone.

BCG Safer than MMR
(on back)
Funnier than autism

Funnier than autism

Autism is actual quite a funny condition and that most of the great British sitcom characters could be argued to be autistic in some way.

You're most likely thinking of the minority with high functioning ASD or Aspergers.

It's actually become an excuse for being an obsessive, anti social knob, which doesn't help the people who actually have the condition.

Nobody has used it as an excuse to my knowledge. I have, however, heard it used by comedians to mock people with poor social skills and/or obsessive personalities.

Well in alot of articles about comedians with marital problems etc it's flagged up as an excuse.

And it's replaced ADHD as the popular reason for difficult behaviours.

But was the original idea any good?

I never read articles about comedians so I'll bow to your superior article-reading knowledge. Although I'd be suprised if they did since Aspergers isn't seen as one of the "cool and edgy" mental conditions to have, like depression or OCD.

Oh but it is, it's a very cool diagnosis.

In the same way being an autistic-savante used to be.

I have Asperger's Syndrome. I would say that "obsessive, anti social knob" would probably be a rather appropriate description of me to be perfectly honest.

And I. But there's no Asperger's involved. ;)

Have you actually been diagnosed? Or was that a self-diagnosis? Only it's notoriously difficult to get it officially recognised.

I displayed the symptoms all my life and was finally, officially diagnosed as a teenager.

It is easier to get a diagnosis as a child or teenager because parents often push for it. Adults struggle considerably getting recognised.
