What are you eating? Page 29

They eat something called "Biscuits and gravy" in America which is nothing like either biscuits or gravy. Don't have that, whatever you do.

The biscuits and gravy at the old redneck joint in my hometown are AWESOMELY TASTY. Fluffy buttermilk biscuits smothered in yummy sausage gravy. They don't have a website, but it looks something like this:

Ever eaten grits? That's the *true* test.

That sounds diiiisssggguuuuuuusting!

And looks it!

It's tasty as hell.

The gravy is similar to that accompanies another Texan delicacy, chicken fried steak. (It's similar to wiener schnitzel, a result of Texas' German heritage.)

Grits always makes me think of 'My Cousin Vinny'. :D

I've always wondered what 'biscuits' were, in the American sense.

Similar to a roll or a scone, but not sweet. Basically a hunk of bread.

Grits are (gritty) ground corn, similar to polenta. They don't have much flavor, so some people add butter, honey or maple syrup to give them a little boost. Probably 1 in 10 Americans will even touch them, and most of those are in the south. But I don't mind them.

That looks like someone's been sick on their plate.

Oh I don't mind polenta so maybe I will try the grits next time.

Some places serve a watery mess, but others prepare it really well and it makes all the difference. Cheese grits seem to be more palatable to most people.

Here's something I've never had the nerve to try. It's quite popular around Philadelphia, but my co-workers can never talk me into trying it when I'm in town.

Isn't that what we call "haslet" over here ?

Sounds similar. I'm not a big fan of guts as food.

I'm eating a bagel! :D

Lovely.

:| Ewwwww.

Thanks for that.

Can't belieeeeeve I wasted my 31,000th post on Griff's barf photo. >_<

Still, I suppose I wasted the other 30,999.

Like I wasted all of mine before, after, and during my landmark!
