That is correct, but it doesn't continue as a whole number. It's a different set of units.

You could say the same about the point/comma between thousands and tenthousands. Maybe it's just a convention and not something you can derive from strict logic alone?
I maintain that the German version is legitimate, too. Just different. Case closed. (I'll try to use the English one on here, though. What I'll never accept, however, is the American conspiracy to make themselves appear richer by rebranding thousand millions/a milliard as one billion.)
