Both countries are occupied. Some retaliation is to be expected.
So what proof do you have that they all know each other? Maybe the IRA are Al Qaeda as well, because they used to let off bombs?

Mainly that they stick videos on the web taking credit for various actions.

Of course they're a vibrant part of the resistance in both countries.

But it doesn't make them any less scary.

Maybe I'm thinking of another system, but I'm pretty sure that the UK's Apaches were built in England. That's how it goes with many weapons systems these days. Our Air Force just signed a huge contract to replace their aging tankers and Airbus won out over Boeing. I think the award will be contested for a long time, so nothing's definite yet.

I thought Apaches were Native to America.

Absolutely it's why UK Apaches cost 6 times more than any one elses.

Apparently have the best engines though.

Yeah - before some big bullies came along and beat them up.

Laughing out loud

Have the guys on Top Gear raced one yet?

Anyone who believes al Qaeda doesn't exist has his head thoroughly and willing buried deep in the sand. It's a loosely arranged organization, but the network spreads far and wide. They've done some interesting mapping of the interactions between the groups based upon cell phone records, intercepted e-mails, etc. They have their own World Wide Web of sorts.

British?

Hey, we named all of our helicopters and half of our sporting teams after them *and* we've let them build lucrative casinos every 50 miles across the nation. :)

Like the Harriers?

Some stuff is currently local, but much isn't.

Quote: Nigel Kelly @ August 12 2008, 12:55 AM BST

Bombs included?

Yes.

British?

Yeah but no but.......

They are the ones who became Yanks so it's nothing to do with us.

And we used to. The UK V bomber force was flying at Mach2 all the way to Moscow under Radar cover. When the USAF was still lumbering around in B52s.

The computer, the jet all UK inventions all stupidly pissed up the wall.

Aye. I'd be interested to find out exactly which administrations and departments were responsible.

If someone killed all my kids with infected blankets that's how I'd want them to say sorry.

What's left of them. A massive guilt complex. (the casino that is!)

I don't think the Vulcans reached anything near Mach 2. I'm pretty sure they were fielded before the B-52s as well. We still fly B-52s today and they're expected to be in service until some of the aircraft are 100 years old! I wouldn't even drive a 20-year-old car across the country, much less fly a 100-year-old aircraft into combat.

They only give the 1.1 speed for the early models, but later ones doubled it.

The Vulcans were used to bomb the Falklands, the furthest bombing mission to date.

After that we seemed to pour all of our money into Eurofighter.

Which isn't a complete Euro-lemi=on pudding,

This may have been already answered, but does anyone know the history here? Did Russia give Georgia the Ossetia province when the USSR broke up? And in that case, why do they now want it back - apart from an excuse to depose the pro-Western Georgian Government?
