Lulu is an EXCELLENT choice. It's very rewarding to see your idea turn into something tangible - and without paying a penny!
How do you get a book published? Page 5
Without paying?
I thought that was the whole point of Lulu.

Apparently that's right - compared though to a vanity publisher.

Trouble is, even writing has gone all x-factor with every Tom Dick or the other bloke (and his second cousin, three times removed) thinking they can write...
....resulting in slush piles becoming slush mountains.
Mind you, publishers are partly responsible for that by falling over themselves to publish the laundry list of any third rate celebrity.
Nope, I did everything online with Lulu; uploading the text, illustrations, cover, the LOT without submitting any payment. You pay about 3 quid to order a copy of your book plus p&p - £7 something but that's all.
Lulu are a unique service
Oh right. I assumed you paid for everything.

Don't you read these threads properly zooo?

So is there a minimum quantity or lengh of time you're tied to them?

Nope.
In fact, I've been on writing forums for five or six years and skimmed through hundreds of conversations about Lulu and similar sites, and have always thought you paid.

Just ask Take That's Jason Orange.
We know what his biggest Lulu release was . . .
That dirty old bitch.
Oh well, at least she only pulled the ugliest one.
*edit*
I'm sorry Jason! I didn't mean it!
*feels genuinely guilty*

He's a very handsome man is Jason . . . Oh, who am I kidding they're all GORGEOUS!!
Lulu is, of course, Scottish, so it's rare for her to be pricked and for heroin not to come out.
I'm a f**king genius.
They are all jolly handsome.
Lulu doesn't deserve any of it!
There are in fact two ways to get a book published (other than self-publishing):
1. Write something of real quality. Pursue publishers/agents in a vengeance.
2. Decide on something that the market will 'go for', write it. Pursue publishers/agents in a vengeance.
A helluva lotta current publishing is No. 2's (and in more ways than one..)
Having attempted 1. for a bit, I'm now trying 2.
I expect I'll go back to 1. again when that doesn't work either.
