Bad day? Page 73

Are football fans in other countries ridiculously racist too? Or is it just here?

(yes, yes, I know, not ALL English football fans are.)

The Spanish are relentless with abuse.

See the Spain-England game where monkey noises rung round the ground anytime Ashley Cole or SWP touched the ball.

Very bluntly!

:)

Why is football more attractive to the poor then?

:O
F**king hell.

But football is more for the poor. And the poor tend to be the uneducated - hence their being poor. And lack of education means lack of understanding, which follows through to 'intriguing' reasoning and logic.

To put it bluntly.

At 60 quid a ticket for top flight games and 20-25 for League One - football is NOT a poor man's game.

SWP? Sarah Wessica Parker?

They would have done whinnying noises for her, perhaps?

The Spanish have a racist coach. So it's particularly bad there.

That used to be true. But to attend football regularly costs a ridiculous amount, there has been a class shift in recent years. It's middle-class now.

To be fair, the noise of any animal would be apt for her.

First few minutes of that video shows what black players are up against.

Even big stars get abuse in their domestic league.

I don't want to watch it. This is why I don't like football. Even the possibility of seeing stuff like that depresses the f**k out of me.

But do most people go (regularly) to the big expensive games, or do most people watch it down the pub or in their own house? I would bet it is the latter by an overwhelming extent.

Luis Aragones is an arsehole of the highest order.

Given that Glenn Hoddle got sacked for NOT saying stuff about disabled people, the fact that the Spanish FA still employ an open bigot is pretty remarkable.

But that isn't all football. Especially not in England. The ridiculous thing about the Spain incident was the lax attitude of all higher authority. In England if the national coach had called someone a "black shit" he would've been sacked immediately. In Spain he's treated like a hero.

I also think poor = uneducated is a touch unfair too.

And IF racist idiots stay at home to watch the games, then that's fine.

It also works on gang culture. Football is more tribal. For example the chants. That ties in with the 'them against us' tag . Chelsea v Arsenal. Whites v blacks and so on.

Of course. But I thought we were talking about racism on the terraces?

I guess it's still a working class game, in the way that rugby and cricket are avowedly middle class and polo is upper class.
