I think he wrote one of my favourite films. Chazz Palminteri and a woman therapist... a con film.

What the heck is it called....?

House of Games.

House of Games.

Thank you!!

Excellent film, that.

So excellent I may even remember its title in the future...

Who are the best agents that represent comedy writers then?

I haven't looked for myself (yet) but wouldn't you just find the artist(s) you like and whos work you think is well represented, and then see which management or agency represents them? If you like a lot of current comedy then there should be a good few avenues easily identifiable.

Internet must hold that info and it should be fairly readily available I would have thought?

On the other hand, my Uncle is a famous comedy producer and I suppose I could show him your script (as I don't have one ready myself..), he needs one as he has a big contract to offer to a writer next week and needs a show on telly by the end of the month. Just by coincidence!

Maybe you should buy me a beer? ;)

The last thing an agent wants is two writers who have same style approach to comedy etc. Like any salesmen/women they want a diversity of talent.

Yes, that's what my Uncle says too.

Nothing like talent with a bit of diversity! he says. ;)

So the plan is to find an agent who represents comedy well but represents a different style of comedy than what you offer, is that it? :)

Can I sleep with you?

The agent doesn't represent any style of comedy. He or she represents writers :)

If they already represent Ricky Gervais I am fairly sure they wouldn't be interested in someone who sends a letter and says they can write just like him.

I know people advocate that kind of approach with production companies/producers just not sure it would work that well with agents.

Lets get your Uncle down for a drink by the way - he can bring the talent!

:)

I dunno Marc. Avalon seem to do quite well for themselves with a good dozen or so very successful comedians and writers who work with same/similar styles.

Yes, Aaron. My Uncle says that too!

He's also talking about wanting to invest money (no strings attached) into a comedy website of some kind. He wouldn't want to influence the site in any way or have any direct involvement, he'd be a totally silent partner, he just wants to hand over a big wad of cash.

Maybe you should buy me a pint, I dunno, do you know anybody who can help my Uncle? Whistling nnocently

We could work something out along those lines, I'm sure.

Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more.

I hope you're not 'in the office' tomorrow - it's so late!

My office is my bedroom.

Wait, that sounds really sordid.

Ah bugger it. I should be off to bed now anyway.

Confessed that his bedroom is his place of work and then used 'bugger' in a subsequent sentence.

Mmm..

So what's your job then Aaron? >_< You're not a .. writer are you???

Fair enough.
