At the moment
A romantic comedy novel, slow but steady progress. Who isn't writing a novel?

Mine was similar. Very Leslie Thomas and just over 50,000 words as my NaNoWriMo entry for last year.

Better get geared up for this year. Only 3 months to go.

Oh flip. I hadn't realised!
'citing.

I have been interested in writing all my life, but have suffered prolonged periods of writer's block, doubtless associated with other things that were happening in my life. I have been easing myself back into writing over the last year or so, mainly through poetry and articles for websites. Only in the past three months have I turned my attention seriously to performance comedy.

My performance comedy back catalogue consists of around 40 sketches, almost all written in the past three months, and a couple of abandoned sitcom pilots, written a long time ago.

For the time being I want to concentrate on building up my sketch portfolio, and possibly get a few more items into Treason and Newsrevue, though topicals are not really my thing. Once I am satisfied with my own ability to write in the genre, I will decide if I want to take it further, and if so how to go about it.

I also want to focus seriously on a larger writing project, but I have not yet decided whether that will be performance comedy related. I have a few ideas in mind.

Just a beginner really, and a bit of a late starter.

Working on:
2 sitcom pilots
2 sketch shows
1 documentary
1 animation
1 series of six webisodes
2 sketches about to be filmed.

Have produced:
1 entry for sitcom trials
6 features (maybe 2 of which are any good)
Almost 40 filmed sketches
Cartoons, Hotel project (all on website below)
50 pages of stand up material (as yet unused)
About 80 sketches (20 of which worth talking about)

Been writing for nearly 5 years.

I started off writing novels and short stories, then moved to scripts. Now I find myself practically incapable of writing standard prose. It always has to be in script form nowadays.

Working on:
2 Animations
1 Filmed Sketch

Back Catalog:
About 25 Animations.
Maybe 2 decent sketches - I'm not prolific!

Writing:
Half-Assing it for about 3 years.

People on this site really are top writers. Apart from Paul W. *checks the thread again and recalculates* edit: even Paul W.

It's amazing to think of the amount of talent and experience for producers to draw upon.

The average BSG writer:

Has 5 things on the go at the moment

Has written 172 sketches at an average of 30 a year

Is 3/5ths of a way through a book

Has written 6.5 Plays/sitcoms or screenplays at an average of 1 and a bit a year

Has been writing for 5 years, 8 months and 12 days.

A few people really pushed up the average, you know who you are...

Slag A - what's your published novel?

I'm curious to see that for the other BSG writers:

How many things do you have on the go at the moment?
How many scripts/plays/sketches shows etc in total do you have in your back catalogue?
How many years you have been writing?

1. 1, writing episodes for a tv drama I have created
2. None but Im optimistic for the future and have entered a couple of competitions
3. 7, on and off since I was 13 but seriously for almost a year

Achievements:
2 unpublished books, one when I was 13 and the other when I was 18
Created and edited a school magazine for four years
Created a sitcom and tv drama*
Wrote a feature film script*

*entered in competitions
