Well, yes, that also could work.

Must be strenuous, lying on your back all day.

Oi! I am sat at my desk at this very moment!

Ah, playing Slave Master at the moment?

I was just on the phone with an English call-center agent to book a hotel.

All the vague confidence I had gained over the last few weeks regarding my English has now evaporated.

You won't understand a word I say. And my accent switches to American when I panic. How utterly embarassing.

*hides, sobbing quietly*

I'm sure we'll understand you fine!
And if not, we'll write to each other on napkins. :)

Are you sure the agent was English? Most of our call centres are outsourced to India.

I recommend you bring a slate and piece of chalk to the meet-up. Then if you go American, you can simply write down what you want to say. ;)

EDIT: Er, what zooo said.

Ha!

In fact, that's a good point. I can rarely understand people at call centres, even if they are English! A very Northern, or very Irish, etc accent totally throws me.

Well, his surname is Anwar, but he had an English accent.

Bringing a slate: We might as well all bring our laptops and continue our conversations on the board...

Thanks for the sympathy! I really feel a bit disillusioned about myself right now. A bit like trying something on at home that looked great in a dimly lit shop. Reality is shit.

Agreed.

You'll be fine, Finck. Why aren't you booking online though? Actually found somewhere now?

Erm... :$

Don't worry, honestly. The telephone is an awful thing. We all get flustered on the phone. I don't understand people I know half of the time.

It was online. But at the end of the booking process you get a reference code with which you have to confirm the booking by phone. Don't know why, seemed a bit complicated.

Ah. Peculiar!

Get somewhere near the airport or summink?

Yes, but you'll still be talking to us for real, won't you?

Well I'll try!

Quote: Aaron @ August 6 2008, 12:57 PM BST

Well I'll try!

Well I'll bring my laptop just in case you do need to communicate.

No, right in the midst of things. I've decided to stay a bit longer and I've booked a flight on sunday for the boyfriend, too. So in case I get murdered by a horde of perverts, he can bring home my remains.
