I'm not saying I didn't know it was him!

I just didn't notice a skin colour change.

Ohhhhhh. Right. Ok.

He's not pitiful, he can breakdance.

All his charcaters are mainly grotesques.
Like with a lot of comedies.

You'll be saying he's sexist next cos the girl's a tool.

Very badly.

Though not as badly as me.

I don't believe I've tried to breakdance.
I might be fantastic at it!

So sootyj, would it not be patronising if the ethnic types were sickeningly nice? And if some of the white characters were shits, would that be racist?

Yuh but imagine a UK actor blacking up, and then playing himself as a criminal, illiterate bully.

And Jonah isn't a grotesque, he's a very believable character.

I don't consider Jonah a grotesque. I'm not saying saying Chris Illey should win some kind of nobel peace prize for his performance or anything, I just don't think it's a problem.

Does grotesque mean unbelievable?

Maybe I just mean unpleasant...

Who said they should be nice?

Not aye.

I think to show any group (even Nazis, and paedophiles) as uniformly negative is unhelpful.

To show them as universally positive is unhelpful.

Yep. So?

He's not even unlikable.
Also, isn't there only one other Polynesian kid who goes to Gumnuts with him?

He's bloody annoying.
But in an endearing way. Some of the time.

Don't you wince when US actors play Brits as stupid, effete, whimps?

I know I do.

I've sat in classrooms with worse.
With people who can't even breakdance, even.

EDIT: Not if it's funny (ie. not on Family Guy)
