Oh yes I forgot about cock and bull story. I thought that was great, probably Steve Coogan's best film? Apart from maybe 24 hour party people though I wouldn't really class that as a comedy

I like The Parole Officer, the Brit comedy Coogan did a while back. I think it got panned; but I thought it was pretty funny.

Not a bad film, but an awful ending, where everybody sings and dances on a stage.

Human Traffic is a really good film. Mostly comedy (though not explicitly). Quality performances from all involved and gets up well up for it by the end. Excellent.

24-hour Party People also good and, as said, very funny though not supposed to be an out-and-out comedy. It's quite dry in places, but all the scenes with Shaun Ryder and Bez are very funny.

The Business is entertaining too, and has it's comedy moments. Again, not a proper comedy though.

I have to disagree with you there. I watched half an hour of it and wanted to punch somebody. Terrible self indulgent twaddle.

I haven't seen Human Traffic except from the first time I saw it several years ago. I thought it was pretty awful.

24 Hour Party People - not a fan either.

The Business - now there is a good film. Forget his name (I originally put Ray Winstone but it's certainly not), but the guy who plays the main character was pretty good. And I like Danny Dyer too (just not in Human Traffic), even though he can only play Danny Dyer in every single thing he's in.

I also thought Cock and Bull Story was rubbish personally, but I did like The Parole Officer.

Just giving my two-cents worth!

Johnny English - now that is actually a hilarious film.

Also of note is Whitnail and I.

Superb film. I watched it this afternoon for the first time in a while, it's great.

I think shaun of the dead is hilarious! Lot's of rib-tickling scenes! Just a shame hot fuzz flunked... so so badly!

Shaun of the Dead is the best british comedy in years in my opinion. I like Hot Fuzz but it feels far too long, and not really funny enough. Some of the humour in it is brilliant (I love the swear box, it's got the words "F**k, Shit, T**t" etc all starred out, and then has the word "CUNT" in big letters in all its glory).

And "it's not murder, it's ketchup"

And:

"It's alright, it's just bolognese!"

And just remembered:

"You wanna be a big cop in a small town? F**k off up the model village"

Some great lines, but not enough in my opinion.

Hot Fuzz Is a great movie, it just goes on that little bit too long. The extra 'everything blows up' ending wasn't needed. But it's a very funny film. I can't see how you could like Shaun but not Fuzz really; it's the same humour and tone in both. At least to me it is.

To me it feels hot fuzz was extra.. with jokes not quite good enough anything else. It is watchable but overall i was bitterly disappointed :(
there are some funny almost hidden jokes in there as well, main one is the shaun of the dead DVD visible in the bargain bin at somerfields durng the fighting sequence!
ha!
:D

I think it's because i watched hot fuzz hoping for more of the humour from shaun of the dead.. i just didn't get it! I may watch again to see if my opinion changes..
:)

The Pope Must Die (1991).
Robbie Coltrane and Ade Edmondson, good fun IMHO.

A Room For Romeo Brass, though not really a comedy as such, is a very funny Brit film.

Hotel Paradiso and Kevin & Perry Go Large.

Sorry, you said comedy films didn't you. ;)

ouch.. they were bad! especially the excessive vomiting.. even my extremely immature younger brother didn't laugh at that!
sad cause bottom isn't all that bad!

The Commitments. Damn good. :)

I liked Purely Belter too. And anyone mentioned The Full Monty?

Yeah I can't believe Kevin and Perry go large gets repeated on TV so much either. I think it was on the BBC a couple of nights ago. I used to like the Kevin and Perry sketches though. I guess some things should just stay on the small screen
