'Inquisitor' status Page 2

Are you serious ? I would have thought twice about putting that line in one of our village pantos.

I watched the whole of Spaced, both series, under duress one weekend from an insistent friend. I laughed once, when the alkie landlady announced she was "Off to do the weekly shop. To Threshers" or something like that.

Anyway I've made my views on Spaced clear. It would be boring if we all liked the same, especially if that same was Spaced.

Seefacts, Sooty, please nominate your sitcom candidates for removal from the space-time continuum.

Errrrrrrrrrrr.

'2 Pints' offends me no end, and not in the way it hopes.

'Mighty Boosh' - painfully modern and painfully shit.

'Gavin and Stacey' - no jokes and a fat bloke doesn't make a realistic, down-to-earth comedy.

'Everybody loves Raymond' - lots of horrible people being nasty to each other. Magic!

Shows like 'The Savages' or 'According To Bex' whilst shit, don't actually register on my radar unlike the above.

Nathan Barley nearly makes the list actually - for being so disappointing and lifting David Brent 100% into Barley.

Everybody likes Raymond had an odd charm, in a polished old fashioned sort of way.

That said any episode of Friends that fixated on relationships,
Sex and the City (it's not funny!),
Will and Grace,
The Thin Blueline (f**k you Ben ELton you patronising hypocrite), King of the Hill (no animation does not make you exiting),
East Enders (nobody still thinks it's a soap do they?)

Ya vol! Mien Mummadant.

Whatever. If you say so.

Hot Fuzz was terrible too. The one good joke in that was the bit in the trailer when the fat cop can't jump the fences and knocks them over. I switched Shaun Of The Dead off when I hadn't laughed after the first twenty minutes.

Seefacts, I agree with your list. Except Nathan Barley which I think was genius.

Sooty it's time for you to comply with the thread topic and nominate.

Hot Fuzz contained one of the best lines/delivery ever.

"You've got a moustache"
"I know!!"

(If you haven't seen it, I can't be arsed to explain the context)

The gags were fab, but in those faux serious relationship epsiodes they were truffles floating in a dirty toilet bowl.

The I'm Joey I'm disgusting episode was ace.

Can I jsut say again Sex and the City, shit, shit.

Quote: Griff @ August 3 2008, 10:38 PM BST

Agreed Will And Grace was painful.

Friends was terrific though. A bit too sentimental at times, but you can't knock the gag rate.

Will & Grace offends me no end. The fact that Jack is camp as f**k actually negates the whole, rather daring, idea of having a homosexual character who is portrayed as essentially a straight bloke who just happens to like blokes.

It's not a f**king sitcom!
Neither is Eastenders!

The swan gag alone deserves it's place in the comedy hall of fame.

And Family Guy - shit cutaways and nicking stuff from The Simpsons doesn't make a classic.

They both are and they both suck ass big time.

But it has the worlds best, and most complex double act in Stewie and Brian.

The rest is dross.

sooty you're an absolute titmonkey. :)

What for?

A prophet is never appreciated in his own life time.

And Eastenders couldn't be worse is the BBC bombed homes at random when it was on.

Quote: Griff @ August 3 2008, 10:14 PM BST

Yep. Decent people don't like it.

:D

Quote: sootyj @ August 3 2008, 10:16 PM BST

Au contraire it's cultrual sharpness, top notch scripts, and use of an A team remix can only be vlaued by the essentially good.

Pity they forgot to make it funny.

Quote: Griff @ August 3 2008, 10:19 PM BST

"cultural sharpness" = endlessly referencing comic books and sci fi films instead of coming up with actual jokes. Right.

Prezunctly.

Quote: Seefacts @ August 3 2008, 10:24 PM BST

Oh, come on!

"When you said it went well . . . Do you mean shite?"

- "You're my number one!"
- "Then why are you treating me like a number two?!"

. . .

That's meant to be funny? It doesn't even make sense.

Quote: Griff @ August 3 2008, 10:26 PM BST

Laughing out loud

Quote: sootyj @ August 3 2008, 10:27 PM BST

I mean the puzzling thing is what do you consider better than Spaced?

Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps.

Quote: Seefacts @ August 3 2008, 10:29 PM BST

I personally think that's an ace use of an style gag.

More:

"Oh, this is like the film where the woman has to help the bloke get one of those American work permits."
"Green card?"
"Yeah, a green card. What was it called?"
"I dunno"

"FHM voted Gillian Anderson as the sexiest woman in the world in their 1997 poll!"
"And what about you?"
"I wasn't place."

What's most saddening is that these must be the funniest bits if you're quoting them at us.

Quote: sootyj @ August 3 2008, 10:33 PM BST

And there were no Spaced films, the format it's self created Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead.

Shaun of the Dead started good, but they clearly ran out of ideas about 35 minutes in.

Quote: zooo @ August 3 2008, 10:31 PM BST

Oh that's a shame, I'm going to have to kill Griff, Timbo and Aaron. :(

*weeps*

Quote: sootyj @ August 3 2008, 10:43 PM BST

They both are

Incorrect.

Quote: sootyj @ August 3 2008, 10:43 PM BST

and they both suck ass big time.

Correct.

I'll let Aaron off. Cos I already knew of his lackings in the area of Spaced appreciation.

But I am disgusted, DISGUSTED with the rest of you.

Hey I liked Spaced, I believe it should become the national anthem.

Every state occaison visiting savages should be forced to watch the whole thing.

It should also be used to start all football matches.

Surely everyone would be asleep by the end?
