How do you get a book published? Page 3

Nothing wrong with Mills & Boon. It's paid work.

Sorry mate still missing it. But I do agree with your notion that having a sense of humour helps if you want to write comedy. How are you getting on with that?

How am I getting on with my 'notion that having a sense of humour helps if you want to write comedy'?

Fine thanks! :D Wave

I'm with ya, Bandage!

My new novel: 'Monkies In Love'

Published by Mills and Baboon.

I think the expression is "you do the maths" in the UK and in the USA they tend to "You do the math." Question of taste. Go figure or go figures - depending on location to the Atlantic.

Morrace you really need to wind in the attitude. The post with piccies and step-by-steps is going too far. If a poster replied to you in same fashion, I'd have to speak to them too. But you've been (usually) met with good humour and plenty of consideration in replies to some of your more beligerent posts.

I think you could choose your targets a little more carefully too. I'd avoid sarcasm like (wannabe ...) after names of targets because it reveals to your audience a lack of knowledge about whom you're referencing. The fact that the respondent replied in such a courteous and self-effacing manner to unwarranted provocation reveals personal qualities that many pros, wannabes, and gonnabes on this forum should foster.

And back to general comments:
Mills and Boon: a market is a market. It supplies a demand. It provides a living. Something I aspire to, so kudos to those who acheive it, in whatever genre.

It's okay SlagA it was an accurate profile quote. :) I mainly come here nowadays to read about Ellie's rugby games.

You know, the same as Dolly Dagger and Electric Landlady, it took me ages (literally just now) to work out that I've known you on another forum, under a different name.

I'd have had to respond to the post, whoever the poster or the target was. :)

Lol. My cover is blown.

I agree with the 'need to wind in the attitude' point, Slag A. I wish I had a courteous and self-effacing manner. Not my fault. Blame the parents - sorry - foster parents.

I don't choose 'targets' - you make me sound like a sniper armed with an AK-47, seeking out victims in a crowded public area.

As for the 'wannabe' thing, I have only ever quoted it, say, from a profile or post.

I appreciate the advice, Slag A and your taking time out to give it. However, I'm sure you won't have to do it again and I apologise to those I may have upset. <3 Wave

See, now you make me feel really guilty. Laughing out loud

I think you're a great contributor, btw, maybe a teensy feisty. And I know you don't deliberately choose targets either. :)

So you're Hermione Breathless, how's the latest pot-boiler coming along? ;)

They say only 2% of unrepresented authors (authors without agents sending in manuscripts)get published. Less than 2% of them can actually afford agents so where in god's name do you start??

Oh look, the yearbook in question is even in my signature hahahah

But you don't have to be able to 'afford' agents.

They only get paid when you do.
