Population control - not controversial I hope.. Page 8

So there's a lot people in China, apparently, I've read that anyway, what are they going to do about that? If every fifth person is Chinese that makes about 1.3 billion, give or take. I think they could do with getting it down under the billion mark. Over a billion of anything seems like too many to me. I think they have mooted some plans over there but I think it's come from their polticians, so obviously they won't work, whatever they are..

I am not against the Chinese as a nation by the way. I like fish and chips as much as anyone!

Keep up at the back there. China already has population control. Each couple is only permitted one child (Or is it two?).

It causes unexpected problems in that the Chinese prefer to have sons (dunno why) so if a daughter is born some couples secretly dispose of or abandon her.

Who hold this strange view?

Ah must be the buffalos in Whipsnade Zoo.

Nope. It's me. Bloody yanks! ;)

They shot all the good yanks..

"I had a dream..." *bang* then dream on..

No that's silly. He was just one guy. I don't have much faith in the American way I'm afraid. I've been around awhile, I don't like what I see.

It shouldn't have been unexpected. The Chinese (like many others) have favoured sons for millenia! It just shows what out and out plonkers Chinese politicians are, no more, no less. At least they are brave enough to try something. Just the wrong thing, as usual.

Nah, the point is it takes masses of energy to get into orbit all of which gets wasted when you land at the other end, so how-so-ever you do it, getting around 186 million people into orbit per year to export them will nacker the Earth's atmosphere.

Exporting surplus population is NOT a viable answer to over population. IMO

Just kill them then.

Fair comment.

Strawberry, Goose, Fun, ...trade, etc.

You must have been remarkably virile as a toddler, fathering children at such an early age. What age was the mum, that's what I want to know.
:P

Laughing out loud

The thing is (being really old-fashioned) people have to learn responsibility for their actions.

And respect people - respect in the real sense of the word - not fear!

My daughter is 22 and my ex-wife just turned 40. I'll leave the math up to you.

With you at 91 we can say you've done a great job! ;)

I'm surprised nobody has brought up the Soylent Green solution for overpopulation.

Actually I suspect the Soylent Green idea originally cam from Johnathon Swift's essay. Much Much earlier.

Anyway, have we sorted it then?

Is the problem any nearer a solution?

Is there a problem?

Does it matter that there are 6.5 billion people and it's increasing?

Just kill them then.

Agin not really possible, 186 million people is over 4 times the total number of people killed in WW-II (including the Holocaust) and that took 6 years, you would have to do it in 1 year every year.

My last girlfriend was only 7 years older than my daughter. :$

The current one is a respectable 13 years older. ;)

Use the Dutch method and make some polders if land ever becomes scarce.

I raised both of my kids from the ages of 1 and 2 by myself

This is what he meant!

We're talking about overcrowding and there you go, throwing an unnecessary letter onto a perfectly good word.
