The Great Escape 2

INT - A POW CAMP DORM - NIGHT

LOTS OF POWS HOLDING A MEETING. RICHARD ATTENBOROUGH IS CONDUCTING THE PROCEEDINGS.

ATTENBOROUGH:
Look chaps, the problem is getting something to shift the earth to allow us to dig Tom, Dick or Harry. We'll never get out of here if we can't get this problem sorted out.

JAMES GARNER:
Leave it to me. I'm the ferret after all.

CUT TO:

EXT - EXERCISE YARD - DAY

SOUND OF A LARGE ENGINE CAN BE HEARD OFF. SLOWLY A HUGE DIGGER COMES INTO VIEW. JAMES GARNER IS SITTING IN THE DRIVING SEAT AS IT CROSSES THE YARD. HE GIVES THE THUMBS UP SIGN TO RICHARD ATTENBOROUGH.

JAMES GARNER:
What did I say? Leave it to me! They'll never know what we're up to because we can out-fox these old square heads easy peasy.

ATTENBOROUGH TURNS TO GORDON JACKSON AND SMILES BROADLY. THE GERMAN GUARDS LOOK AS IF NOTHING STRANGE IS HAPPENING.

ATTENBOROUGH:
See you in Piccadilly next week old man!

END:

Very good, but why they sudden all out assault on The Great Escape?

saw it again last week and although I love it it really is too hammy for words in some places

Now if an Israeli shot Garner, that'd be topical.

Now if an Israeli shot Garner, that'd be topical.

ALL 3 TOGETHER
He looked like a Muslim suicide bomber, in a thick coat, that's why I shot him.

(From Topic: 'No dogs' Author Sootyj)

Morrace I don't usually respond to some of the sillier posters.

But if you read the news, there's been 2 cases of Palestinians attacking Israelis with earth moving equipment.

Then being shot by Israeli passer bys.

2 cases of Palestinians?

They come in CASES, already? How many to a case?

Did the earth move for the Israelis?

But meanwhile, back to the sketch, very silly and a nice pay off which would sit very nicely in a skecth show. Because 'The Great Escape' is so well known it's always rich for spoofing and it's calling out for several other like-minded sketches.

Good stuff, Jon.

I'm sure what Baumski says is true, but for those of us that have never seen it, I don't get either of them!

Sorry. My bad.

Dan

'The Great Escape' 1 & 2 are both very funny spoofs and I think that Blenkinsop's cornered the market in this genre (BCG-wise).

I look foward to more of his excellent work.

I've never seen it either, so it's somewhat lost on me!

You'd need some good lookalikes as well to pull it off.

This is one I can visualise being performed well.

The theme, the uniforms, a nice OTT Dickie Attenborough.

Once you've got those markers in place, will get it rewally quickly.

Armstrong and Miller. OK while not exactly lookalikes they still tick all the right boxes.

Yeah, I suppose they could pull it off. Need a little bit of exposition though. Perhaps use the characters names straight off.
