The Great Escape

Maybe part of a running gag

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

EXT - A RAILWAY STATION SOMEWHERE IN BAVARIA 1943 - DAY

A LOT OF PEOPLE MILLING ABOUT. THERE ARE SEVERAL WELL KNOWN ACTORS DOTTED AROUND THE SCENE. JAMES GARNER, RICHARD ATTENBOROUGH, GORDON JACKSON, DAVID McCALLUM, DONALD PLEASANCE AND JAMES CAAN.

ATTENBOROUGH:
A lot of the chaps are here. Gosh if the Goons spot any of us they'll have a field day.

JACKSON:
Och! What is bloody McCallum up to? Subtle not! What a bloody arse!

DAVID McCALLUM WALKS INTO SHOT. HIS BEHAVIOUR IS FURTIVE. HE'S WEARING A SANDWICH BOARD WITH "ESCAPED BRITISH PRISONER OF WAR" WRITTEN ON BOTH SIDES. HE SPOTS AN SS OFFICER AND STARTS TRYING TO COVER HIS FACE IN A REALLY OBVIOUS WAY.

SS OFFICER:
Hey you! Yes you Tommy! Hande hoch!

McCALLUM STARTS TO RUN AWAY BEHIND SOME TRAINS THAT ARE STANDING STATIONARY IN THE STATION. A MACHINE GUN SOUNDS AND HE FALLS TO THE GROUND FATALLY WOUNDED.

ATTENBOROUGH:
Bollocks!

END

Whats significant about McCullum?

You'd need to be familiar with or be a fan or devotee of the film to see his hammy acting - trying to be inconspicuous. Otherwise this probably means nowt

Sorry, Blenkinsop – Regarding one of the replies, I couldn't resist this little adjustment I made to your very funny sketch. Took the liberty of utilising your signature as well. I hope YOU appreciate it!

SOOTYJ WALKS INTO SHOT. HE'S WEARING A SANDWICH BOARD WITH "REFRAIN, REPEAT REFAIN, REPEAT REFRAIN AGAIN" WRITTEN ON BOTH SIDES.

ATTENBOROUGH:
(TO SOOTYJ) Go on then! Say something funny! Go on!

SOOTYJ:
What's significant about McCullum?

ALL ON THE RAILWAY STATION LAUGH HYSTERICALLY

A MACHINE GUN SOUNDS AND SOOTYJ FALLS TO THE GROUND FATALLY WOUNDED.

JACKSON:
Och! What a bloody arse!

(TO CAMERA} You'd need to be familiar with or be a fan or devotee of Sootyj. Otherwise this probably means nothing.

That's quite a Harry Hill stylee gag, satirising a small part of a famous film, with excessive passion.

On that basis it's really quite funny.

As a runner with the exageration picking up each time, it would really work.

I suppose being a fan of the Equalizer I'm not used to thinkin of MacCullum as a bad actor.
