Blogs Page 2

Have to say I do love the jargon one also.

my blog is just a way for me and anyone reading it to keep up to date with my writing progress.

Same here. All the blogs I read are of other writers and how they are progressing in their careers, which is what I hope to do too. I try and offer some observations and advice too, but I'm still relatively new to the industry.

I was going to start one the minute I got on the 'ladder', but can't really be bothered.

I'll start one when I get seriously on the ladder.

There are some great writers' blogs out there though, really insightful.

Lazy git!

Lazy git!

And I'm not interesting enough.

Yet.

We're the same person, you're very interesting and quite handsome.

You can talk. I feel sorry for a proper aficiando of beef and tomatoes who's desperate to write a blog on the subject but finds he can't get the Blogspot address of his choice because you're sitting there with your single entry.

It took me years to write that first one, the sequel will follow soon... ;)

I thought it was a good idea to start a blog at the beginning of my career and keep posting as it progresses so that someday when hopefully im on top of the writers ladder and rolling in money and success with tv shows and films to my credit (lol!) i can look back and say 'oh yeah i remember that day'. i began my blog when i wanted to become a novelist and some of the posts are about that but the period where i turned from novels to scripts is also in there and now i write about the scripts. i also try and put in things that have helped me and could help others like the importance of editing and the helpfulness of the Writers and Artists Yearbook. The link is in my signature.

I started mine purely for self-promotion. I kept hearing about Danny Stack, despite never having seen or read anything he'd written. His name was bandied about because of his blog.

Self-promotion is a large part of being a successful writer, so I thought I'd have a go.

I'm glad I did now, since it's led to more opportunities, new friends and an increased Internet presence. When people see or read something I've written, I want them to be able to find out more information about me without effort; my blog and my website just make me that little bit more accessible.

I try not to give advice though, since there are far too many people already doing it and most of them really shouldn't.

I love reading successful writers' blogs!

They are very aspirational.

yeah i did it for self promotion too but you can only get so far with blogspot. did you purchase your own website then? i might try that.

My website doesn't work that well for self-promotion; but what it does do is give anyone searching for more information about me somewhere to start.

I usually notice a spike in page views just after I've sent a script to someone new or just before someone new contacts me. A website is a good idea, but you have to have something to put on it.

thats exactly what I was thinking but im glad I found you! ive been looking for ways to move my scripts forward and have now contacted some people on the websites you gave on your strategy guides so thanks!
