Right upto the point Tesco runs them out of business.
Inevitably acrimonious racism discussion Page 6
I'm sure there are some lazy arsed Asians running corner shops. I doubt they're all hardworking.
That one on Corrie's a right twit, for example...
He's not a real Asian.
Wow, he is a good actor!
"Inappropriate pornography is used by most sex offenders, before the actual crime."
And what if inappropriate pornography is also used by a (possibly higher proportion) of people who never go on to commit actual crimes? Has cause and effect been proven, or only inferred?
The paedophile issue was introduced (not by me) into this thread as a way of shutting down discussion of quite an interesting point: is there anything inherently wrong in racism if the racist remains silent about it?
I agree that a paedophile mostly can't help it, and if he never does anything to any kids, or looks at any kid porn, then he's not really done anything to be punished for.
But racism is different, it comes from ignorance, not a physical urge.

Ah thought crime! According to the Catholic church absoultely to consider a crime, is tantamount to performing. Hence why Priests who are gay, but never have sexual relations, can still be kicked out.
Racism is all about the result, not the thought. Hence if I say I'm not a racist, but as a recruiter i recruit twice as many white candidates as black my actions may be considered racist.
Even if the racism is either unspoken, or subconcious.
The problem is not only is wrong to judge peoples thoughts, on a practical basis we can't tell them.
So racism is only relevant with regards to verifiable results.
This is whats known as institutional racism.
This is scarier than thought crime in some ways. As even if I'm not a racist, don't think like a racist. If my employer, country, scout troop is racist than I'm racist.
n.b. if paedophiles want to look at drawings of kids fine. Provided they are in some monitoring, therapy program.
Same as for any other potentially materials, driving licence, fire arms licence etc.

OR SHE!
(PS this is a joke and not an attempt to derail thread further with 'can women be peadophiles' debate. Although that would make quite a 'daaaarrrkk' sketch, the NAMBLA being told they have to let women join by Human Resources)

It wasn't meant to shut it down. It is a genuine point (though obviously uncomfortable, to me included) that I probably phrased in the wrong way, due to an inherent awkwardness!
Is it not better that a paedophile look at pictures than go out and rape a little kid? The press would have you believe that they're exactly the same, when they're clearly not. I'm not saying either is right, btw, just that the second type are surely far worse than the first.
chip probably has a point: the 'quiet' racist is better than the BNP fundamentalist!
(Sorry Griff for bringing the 'p' word up again)

Racism comes from fear. So in a way being a silent racist is being twice fearful. Which is not a good place to be.
I just imagined your character flicking through the pages of a copy of Which Doctor.

or slefisness, or anger, or primitve instinct.
There's lots of reasons to be racist.

"Don't like no coloureds" is the only one that springs immediately to mind...

They're female paedophiles, it's jsut the tone of reporting is very different.
Thankfully the law is generally above this, and they goto prison same as the guys.
There are less of them though.
