Inevitably acrimonious racism discussion Page 5

Fair enough. I was just asking. I don't actually endorse half of what I say in posts.

HA! Do you want a bigger shovel?

Are we going down that route?

What's wrong with being a paedophile if you only look at pictures then? And don't actually do anything?

You shouldn't not like somebody because they're brown (or yellow/gay/etc). You should not like somebody because they're a twat.

May I reffer you to my Arsehole sketch,

people can't help being arseholes, so why does that make it ok to pick on them?

Noel Edmonds has struggled bravely for years with being a beardy twat, and you throw that at away.

You sir are a bigot!

I'm just trying to get my post count to 2100 before logging off for a while.

Yeah, I don't have a point in most of mine. I didn't really know what I was saying to be honest...

Yes, I'm arseholeist, twattist and knobheadist. Proudly.

Maybe I should start my own political movement...

Where's your Arsehole sketch? I can't find it.
EDIT: Found it, it's okay. Don't panic!

Was just watching the Channel 4 documentary on the Qua'ran last night. What are people's thoughts on having a Muslim character in their sitcom? Is it too easy for a non-Muslim writer to accidentally cause offence?

Too late Griff. I saw it

;)

Yes - no offence.

Yes - no offence.

Hmmm, that's a good - bad point, that I totally agree - disagree with.

So what exactly is wrong with paedophilia if the paedophile does nothing but look at pictures - and the pictures aren't photos but just cartoons?

And the cartoons are of consensual adults? Nothing I guess.

Depends on what you say about them. I mean if they're just a regular Muslim no issue at all, and lots of good comedic stuff.

If you want to push the fundamentlaist route, than I suppose handled with care it can work. The Tipton Taliban in Monkey Dust was an unusally good example of handling this subject well.

I mean are you saying these people are ridiculous and horrible, and unrepresentsative? That's a good contrast joke.

It's the 70s I'm a normal Brit surrounded by weirdo froiegners (in minstrel make up).

That's the ones who really suck.

Good question, but respecting Griff's wishes maybe for another thread.

But if I can say it really quickly. Inappropriate pornography is used by most sex offenders, before the actual crime.

This is where the new legislation is coming from.

That said it has the potential to be used for draconian censorship

Quote: Griff @ July 25 2008, 11:13 AM BST

Oi! No paedophilia in my thread please.

It is disgraceful. Would somebody please think of the children. Or try to not think about them in this case.

True - it can be done.

American Stars is another good example.

You can always get away with a good joke.

Well no, it doesn't make them a lazy stereotype. But if a writer (not Simon per se) was writing a script, and the only Asian person they ever wrote in was a bloke running a corner shop, then yes, that could be perceieved as slightly lazy!

Agreed. The asians running our corner shops are certainly not lazy. Even the kids when they take over, work really hard. I admire them for their work ethic, sadly lacking in so many people these days! :)
