British Comedy Guide

Your Favourite Sketches?

Here's a chance to reveal some of the best sketches you've ever seen/heard.

Some of my favourites:

Big Train: The 'is that some kind of a reference to me not being married?' sketch. Pure comedy genius and acted perfectly by Brian Heap.

Fast Show: The drunken man telling us his long winded and very funny stories -'I was very, very drunk!'

Not the Nine O'clock News: The darts parody.

So... what are your favourite sketches ?

Anything By Reeves and Mortimer

Barry

My favorite sketches in "Constable Savage" from Not the 9 O'Clock News, "The World Stare-Out Championship Finals" from Big Train and "War Sketches" from The Day Today.

Breakfast, Singin' in the Rain, and Previn from The Morecambe & Wise Show. Can't beat 'em.

(And I do love "Oooh, you are awful! ... But I like you." too.)

If I mat add to my list, one of my top sketches is the "Fix It Girl" from Jam. Very funny, and very, very disturbing.

Goodness gracious me - "I could make it myself cheaper" only because my Dad says that all the time

Trigger happy TV - the snail suit on the zebra crossing

The fast show - The final Rowley Birkin it was so moving yet funny

oh, this is a good topic... here's my favourites that I can think of off the top of my head...

The Molly Sugden sketch from Little Britain

"Going For an English" from the rather forgotten Goodness Gracious Me

The educated gorrila sketch from Not the Nine O'Clock News

Fry and Laurie with the cricket bat

The Two Ronnies "Mastermind" and "Fork Handles"

French and Saunders "Silence of the Lambs" spoof and their "Madonna" rip-off - (the only two funny things the pair have done together)

The soup sketch with Julie Walters in Victoria Wood

Nick Frost coming down stairs in Man Stroke Woman and it being revealed that he's married to the woman he woke up next to (not as it first appeared being a mistaken one-night stand)

There's also a few from the Fast Show, Harry Enfield, Leauge of Gentlemen (if that counts), Smack the Pony, Two Ronnies, Smith and Jones etc on my favourite favourites list plus of course pretty much everything Monty Python have done (genius). Oh and some from Trigger Happy TV too (the spy newspaper one for instance), thanks Dizzy.

Oh too many brilliant sketches exist to mention!

I'm just going with a couple of modern ones, because I can remember them, and other classics have also been mentioned.

Smack the Pony! Especially their dating videos. I love the tourettes one and the urban milk woman. And, non-dating video, 'Girlie Fighter 3', which I hadn't seen until I bought the 'Best Of' (though I disagree with some of their selections and still think they should release it all!)

Man Stroke Woman the make up counter girls drawing on themselves.

The "Is that Dave?" sketch from The League Of Gentlemen.

Big Train had some classics, the banning w@nking in the office one, the scary puppet one "I've turned into a puppet........ no, one of the old scary wooden ones" and the one where the boss of the company hasn't got the wages for the staff, and keeps distracting them with magic tricks and puppies and things.

I think I'll buy that Saturday.

I had forgotten about the "banning w@nking in the office" sketch thanks for the reminder, isn't it about time they repeated Big Train

Barry

Yeah Big Train is probably one of the funniest sketch shows out there. I've got both series on DVD and they're wicked!

Another favourite from the series is the 'you fat handed tw@t!'

Yeah, when the kids get him that remote control for christmas "You can't press the buttons can you, you fat handed tw@t!"

Has it ever been repeated on terrestrial TV? I've only seen them all once I think.

Y'know guys, you can say "twat". And "wanking". And the rest.

(Just remember though, there may be some 'younger' members out there, so try not to be too gratuitous. But in context is definitely fine.)

I'm not sure if it has been repeated... but it deserves to be.

I like it when he catches the baby that falls off a rooftop and the woman says 'thanks for saving my baby... you fat handed twat!'

I love Big Train :)
