British Comedy Guide

Script Reader

Hello, can anyone recommend a script reading service for sitcom. Obviously, we're aware of the redoubtable Marc Blake. However, as we read his book before setting out, we feel that it would be better to get someone else's opinion - ideally someone who has written comedy successfully.

Any ideas?

You could train a monkey?

Thats probably a no by the way, I don't have ANY ideas.

Anyone not playfully suggesting the tutorage of our simian cousins?

Wasn't Dave Cohen offering a script reading service on this site somewhere?

Cheers Pootle. The search fuction is up the stick, so I'll check back later.

Why don't we script read for each other? It'd save money.

It's in the Writing section, I think.

I think you'll find that Marc Blake has written comedy successfully. I've used Marc service and would highly recomend it.

What's he written? And how much does he charge and what do you get?

I wouldn't mind being a humour consultant - what a great job.

I'm sure Marc is great; his book was very helpful. However, since we have followed his advice to start with, a second opinion seems wiser.

I will try to get details for Dave Cohen.

Hello Griff, I read you say that on BBC7's site when googling for him. Do you have an email for him?

I've never used one of these before - how much is it and how much feedback to you get?

If you search through some of the writers just in this forum, most have some pretty impressive credentials, you could always drop them a PM.

It wouldn't hurt anyway.

But if you are looking for a proper script reader, Marc Blake is your man I have to say.
