Urgent tech help!

Sorry to sound dense but I need some technical help.

Someone can't open some scripts I sent because they're .docx

I tried cutting and pasting but of course this buggers up the layout. I could re-type (but would rather not), but how can I save it as just a .doc?

I have Windows Vista and Word2007 and the scripts are in BBC scriptSmart.

Thanks in advance....

Can you open them in WordPad?

EDIT: Oh, no, you don't want to faff with the layout.

ANOTHER EDIT: To save a 2007 document to a document that 2003 Office or XP Office will see you need to change the file type from .docx to .doc. At the bottom of the window, when you click save, you will see that is says File name: Doc1.docx, and Save as type: Word Document (*.docx) Click on the drop down arrow for the Save as type and select Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) This will work on all office 2007 products (although the example I showed was for Word, the same would be true of excel, etc. - example: Excel 97-2003 Document (*.xls) etc...

Graham - yeah, that's the problem.

I'm just trying to save them as .doc via word93-03 from the drop down menu on 'save as'. I'm just going to check if this has worked now.

EDIT:! Posting at the same time there. Great minds and all that...!

Did it work? If so, I want a co-credit and 5%.

Ah. What you need to do is PDF it to your Blackberry (or mobile phone if it can handle email), then copy and paste the whole thing into a Powerpoint presentation and fax it on a floppy disc to the recipient's memory stick. The recipient then needs to blog it onto a DVD, photocopy the DVD into a hyperlink and then videoconference it to their copy of Word as a podcast.

*Shakes head*

Afinkawan, you dummy, you forgot to send it as a Tweet.

Thanks. All sorted now. It did work.

Move along ladies and gentlemen. There's nothing to see here.

:)

Cool fact - if you get a .docx file and don't have the correct version of word, and are unable to download a viewer, you can rename the file to .zip and open it that way to view the (unformatted) text. Strange but true.

You're sort of stretching the terms 'cool' and 'strange' a bit.

That's how I got my girlfriend pregnant.
